30 Day Shred, aka Training For the Zombie Apocalypse

goldy, thanks for that suggestion, it's definitely something I would look into if I can't make any headway with the Dr. I'm going to today.

Plus I feel like somethings wrong. My hormone levels always seem to be out of whack. I don't know if I have thyroid issues, or PCOS, but every gyno seems to brush me off too.

I need to learn to be more assertive. I'm not.

kooky, we're your cheerleaders!

The amount of time from slipping on the peel and landing on the pavement is exactly one bananosecond.

I've decided that I'll never get down to my original weight, and I'm OK with that--After all, 8 pounds 2 oz. is just not realistic.
Well I finally made a dentist appointment after 6 years, so that's progress!

Woo-hoo to you for getting those teefies taken care of!! Thankfully Mr. Spring stays on me about that. I once went about 4 years without seeing a dentist and after moving here it's taken me a year to get off my lazy tookus and make the appt. I go Monday for that. (any excuse to use that smiley) Maybe one day I'll stop being a procrastinator.

I went to the Dr. and she was pretty darn awesome. Iroc, you gotta get on it and make that appt.

But I'm in the same position as you. I have to actually find a doctor. Plus I only think about that something is 'wrong' when I'm not feeling well, and then I don't feel like making an appointment.

I started out asking a few people if they had anyone they could recommend. Granted I don't know many people here. I asked my neighbor and our landlord and it was a good starting point. I ended up finding the Dr. I chose by looking on the website for my insurance and seeing who takes it in the area. Honestly, I picked her because after googling that particular office she looked the nicest from the pictures listed on their website. May be ridiculous, but it got me in the door.

I hate that you're feeling like that, I certainly sympathize.

Just for the sake of keeping track. I completed another level 1 workout today.

I'm tired.

Did Jillian's Cardio Kick Boxing Fast Fix today! Straight Jillian style cardio for 20 minutes. Aghhh!

Glad I did it but glad it's over! Lol

Did my treadmill thingy. Ran 10 minutes on the first run set again. Woo hoo! Worked in some inclines and another 5 min run. My set goal is to burn 500 calories each workout.Takes me about 40 minutes. My calories on most days are barely enough to sustain, but I'm trying to kick start something BC I'm so frustrated nothings showing yet.

The last time I trained on the treadmill I only had a 300 calorie goal each workout, so I've certainly stepped it up. That was 2 years ago. I got down to 128lbs then (which is my goal now) but that's when things got serious w boyfriend and I got lazy.

Yesterday I didn't workout, but when I got ready for bed I felt really good. My stomach seemed flatter, and I didn't feel so pudgy. Somehow after my run today and a hard boiled egg sandwich I feel bloated again. Sigh.

Tends to stomp on the proudness of dedication when you aren't seeing progress. I'll keep at it! Can't say I'm not eating this weekend though!

I haven't mustered the energy to tackle the shred today, maybe after the little one gets to bed tonight.

But I did find a 28 min yoga session on demand which I did

Did the Shred Level 1 on Saturday.

2 hour walk Sunday. It was so lovely outside I just listened to a couple podcasts and kept going until it started geting too dark.

Also, I made lemon cupcakes with a glaze icing last night. I ate two. They were sooooo good but I know I shouldn't have had the second one. Haha, who am I kidding, I probably shouldn't have had the first one either! Lol

Thinking of doing the Shred again today.
I been doing level 1 of the Shred for the past 2 weeks and now finally ready start level 2. I can say that I have lost about 8lbs since starting the 30 day shred.

Just want to wish all my fellow curlies who are working out

It finally got a little cooler in NYC so I have been able to get out and walk some. Oh, what a difference that makes! Also, I was in the country over the weekend and got in a nice long energetic walk among the trees and brooks - lovely.

At my age if you don't exercise you will rust out! Keep moving - keep young. -- 67 and looking and feeling great!

While I haven't been great at the Shredding or 90xing I did get to the gym with the BF! I had a great walk on the treadmill, focusing on walking tall and engaging the abs. We had agreed on a 25-30 min. session to get into things. I normally vary my speed based on whatever song I'm listening to so I can walk to the beat. I don't have a set time, I just roll with it. I used my dance sneakers this time, and I was much more comfortable than I have been in the past. I did end up with some blisters, I think my socks were bunched.

I really need new sneakers, mine have broken in all wonky and my feet slide around.
I highly recommend going to a store and getting fitted for shoes. I never would have thought to do this, but I was with Mr. Spring when he went to a Fleet Feet to get fitted for running shoes and while there the girl asked if I wanted to see about new shoes for me too. I thought this was something just for runners, but it made all the difference for me and my walking.

We have a store just for athletic shoes in my area. They actually take a short video clip of customers walking and running to figure out all kinds of stuff like how you are stepping (heel, toe, leaning to one side etc) and your overall posture. The staff is really knowledgeable too!

I always felt like I was on the verge of having a leg cramp. I started taking magnesium vitamins and viola! No more calf tightness.

The place we went taped Mr. Spring on the treadmill so she could see how he stepped when he ran, I thought it was pretty neat! For me she just had me walk away and toward her a few times and she said "Ohhh, you're one of those." after seeing my gait. Apparently the way I step was quite specific! LOL She was really great and had me try on several types of shoes until I narrowed down just the right ones.

After far too many days of not shredding I just did level 1.

I think I may be getting ready to move up. Has anyone liked level 2?

You know what sucks? Exercise.

Know what sucks more? Not wanting to exercise.

I dragged, but made my 500 calorie burn on the treadmill. I think I sweat more than I have in my life.

Still eating 1300 calorie diet. Still haven't lost anything. I started June 13.

Still nursing some sizable blisters on my heels but I did get good news yesterday!

I had my yearly physical at the Dr. and my bloodwork came back pretty normal!! No diabetes (runs in my fam and is a concern since I am very overweight), slightly high cholesterol, but triglycerides are fine and my good is higher than my bad. Thyroid is a bit high but not of concern yet, we'll keep an eye on it because of a family history. Liver is a bit high, but losing 10 lbs should correct that. Best of all my blood pressure is totally under control!!!

I just feel so much better. It's a bit freeing knowing that while yes I need to lose some weight for my health, it's not so dire that I have to feel guilty when I indulge in something I like or skip a day of exercise. I can continue on my slow and steady changes to a healthier lifestyle. It's almost like now that I know it's not drastic, I'm actually more motivated.
