I finally got my DVD last night but I haven't used it yet. I did unwrap it though!
I'll start today after work and do pushups for any jumping jacks or anything really that I'd put strain on my ankle.
You see I travelled 1300 miles to California just to step down into a gopher hole when we went to the beach and attempt to break my ankle. Yes, I do this at home all.the.dam.time. I haven't broken it yet. *crossesfingers*

I did 3 half-ups.
Good for you, ninja!
I think I'm in love with the chest fly because it's like taking a nap!
Mr. Spring swears he'll have me doing 10 push-ups one day, but I just don't see it. Maybe punching him in the face will help strengthen me. (I get angry when I have to do physical activity so it helps me let it out to threaten him with bodily harm.)
And is anyone else punching Killian (intentional typo) in the face during the boxing section?

I've decided that I'll never get down to my original weight, and I'm OK with that--After all, 8 pounds 2 oz. is just not realistic.

Her face just looks evil, even before doing the workout I don't like her.

Wow, spoke too soon. I was sore this morning. And today was tough.
Ya, push ups are hard. I do the girlies ones and I'm pretty sure I'm not in a straight line. The lunges hurt my knees pretty bad, so I dont really go deep into them (boy I sound like an old lady!).
I'm pretty surprised, but Jillian is not bothering me so far. We'll see.
Ab things do not bother me. Im convinced I have no more ab muscles. They disintegrated, so theres nothing to get sore. Would explain why my stomach looks like a sandbag.
My thighs and my arms are on fire though!

iroc, the first time around I did this I was MISERABLE. I seriously could not get out of bed the next day and wanted to cry every time I tried to sit on the potty. I had also NEVER done any type of exercise like that in my entire life so that's probably why.
When I'm doing the lunge things I feel like I'm going to topple over, I have no balance apparently.
You should see how hard I struggle through the whole thing, you'd feel like a spry teenager in comparison. Thankfully this time around I was only sore after that first day and this week I've been ok, only some minor soreness.

Wow, missbanjo! What a trooper you are! Doing the 30 Day Shred with an injured ankle. Definitely modify or eliminate the jumping jacks. Here is a good example of a modified jumping jack where one foot is always touching the ground. You could also just do knee lifts with arm raises as a substitute. Be safe!
Ninja - Yay on the five pushups! Five is better than none!
Iroc - Glad to have you with us! The soreness didn't sneak up on me until day 3. Lunges can be hard on your knees. Just be sure to use proper form and don't go all the way down. I would definitely stop the lunges if you are experiencing any kind of knee pain. It's not worth it to blow your knees out. I wish I knew a good substitute for lunges. And I don't find Jillian to be mean or irritating, either. I kind of like her personality in this workout.
On to today's update:
Day 8 of The Shred. Today felt really good! I can tell my endurance is up compared to day 1. I can get through the entire workout without stopping. I still don't do all the pushups, but I can do more than I could do on day 1. And, I do the modified, or 'girly' pushup.
Circuit 3, Strength is where my muscles are begging for mercy - the side lunges with the anterior shoulder raise. I can barely do the last couple shoulder raises. My arms are screaming!
I'm still doing lots more stretching afterwards, paying extra attention to my calves, hamstrings, and the IT band/outer hips. I tend to get very tight in those areas.
I'm actually looking forward to moving on to level 2, which will be on Sunday. I had initially thought of taking Sundays off, but I've been feeling really good, so I'm going to plow on through.
I did an aerobics dvd this afternoon, Gilad Step & Tone Workout. Since I use 3-lb. weights for The Shred, I only used 1 lbs. for this. And again, I only did 45 minutes, skipping the buns and abs work as a lot of that is a repeat of the morning routine.
This morning, I did notice a difference in some parts of my body. More definition in my shoulders and upper arms, more toned around my ribcage, waist looks a little more defined, and my tush looks more toned. Weigh-in day is tomorrow morning. I always dread that first look at the scale, but I know I should be fine with whatever it says because I see changes happening to my shape - the weight loss will follow!

SC, that's awesome!
I'd like to say that I don't dislike Jillian, I just need to project my anger at someone so I can let it out. She just happens to be right in front of me. Sort of like how I threaten Mr. Spring with bodily harm any time we're doing exercise type activity, mainly it's because it makes him laugh when I'm all grumpy pants like that.
Those anterior raises with side lunge kill my arms by the last two on that second set, but I'm only using 2lb weights.
Being able to read along with everyone's progress and experience with it is really keeping me motivated and actually looking forward to doing it, which is really surprising to me.

It's like ripping off a band aid, you just have to sit quick. And THEN you have to figure out how to get back up! These memories are so vivid in my mind, I had absolutely no freakin' idea I could be so sore.

Of course the one muscle area that is not sore is my sandbag. I mean my abs. Those are called abs.

Loved reading this thread! You guys are troopers I hate being sore from a workout and then having to suffer through soreness the next day during the workout again!
Spring1onu, your potty problem made me smile because the exact same thing has happened to me before! I think it even hurt to laugh that day...
I just started a Zumba program (on the Wii) a couple of days ago so I will be sticking with that but I will definitely will keep an eye on this thread and cheer you all on from the sidelines! If it doesn't work out and produce the results that I want, I may give this a try.

I was so tired, not enough sleep Wed night. 5 minutes in (including warm-up) I had to quit. Hopefully I can make it through tonight.

iroc, don't slap me, but once you get going, working out again will help the soreness work itself out faster.

I kind of can't wait to start this program again! I just finished school for the year and hopefully may start next week. I've been battling high blood pressure and it's just time to stop making excuses and lose weight to help with that. It's easy for me to ignore cuz I've always been bigger than everyone else, I have a man that adores me, and in general have always been happy with myself. I cannot however ignore the fact that my heart is telling me that it needs help.
I have this DVD and liked it when I first started. I have to figure out how to hook up the DVD player (cable guy did not do it right) cuz my computer's optic drive has decided not to recognize discs.
Root canal next week which may have to postpone full on workouts, but I can start some stretching routines. I'm also planning to go on a processed food fast to help counteract the past couple weeks of takeout and easy meals as I finished up school plus two of my own classes in the evenings.

I'm so glad you started this thread. I just purchased the JM 30 day ripped. Since last September I have lost 20 lbs going from 165lbs a 12/14 to a 8/10 by just eating smaller portions and stopped snacking. I didn't work out I have sedentary lifestyle and love to eat out (which is why it took so long to loose the weight) now I feel a little flabby so I want to start this workout video and hopefully tone up, eat better and lose this last 10 lbs.
Currently weigh 145 lbs 5'6" goal 135 lbs and toned
