fitness buddies?

Aries_jb's post gave a me a good idea. Most people do a lot better with exercise when they have somebody to answer to other than themselvews, as her postings are showing. So why not see if we can match up in pairs to motivate each other on a more direct level? Maybe look for people who are close to our own fitness levels ang age, etc. Don't know how many are interested but I'd def. like to have a buddy of this sort.

If anyones interested, I'm 18, about to be a college frosh, quite strong but I'd like to waaaayyyy increase my cardio-level and burn off some unwanted fat. Like outdoor-type activity and fresh food, my weaknesses include ice cream and cookies. Anybody interested?

No matter how hard you try to hide them, your inner curls will always come out. Why not make them look good?

Ladyknight,

This is a fab idea. I hope people participate...

I'm doing an alkaline detox right now where I have to answer to Lotsawaves. It's great.
Count me in.

I'm a grad student with a busy schedule, but I make time for my physical health. I'm pretty fit. I'm a "former" athlete (can you be a former athlete?). Exercise is very "chill" now for me, compared to when I used to be a runner. I'm not concerned with achieving some body ideal. I just want to stay trim, strong, and fit. I walk 3-4 miles a day and I swim 800-1,600 meters once a week (although, I'm taking a break from swimming). Oh, and, I'm going to start doing pilates 2-3 times a week. My main struggle is eating due to stress, which has caused me to retain 5-8 pounds.

Stats:

Height: 5'5"
Weight: 134-135
Goal Weight: 128-130 and we'll see what my body does from there

I think I need to get more calories in my diet. I'm thinking I overeat when I don't eat enough.
Cool idea. I'll soon be 32, and I have a baby at home (serious time limitations). I work out about 3-4x per week, but need to tone and define. Anyone fit my profile?

My profile (since I will only be detoxing for another week or so):

Workout - average 5 days a week, and aim to play a sport once a week.

Diet - reasonably healthy, but trying to cut back much more on dairy, desserts and sweets.

Goals - more definition, a bit leaner, greater cardiovascular health and sticking to my workout schedule!!

Time - not an issue, procrastination and laziness are though.

For exercise I do:
walking, elliptical trainer, weights, pilates, power yoga.

For sports (lazy this summer so I've done very little):
tennis, golf.
I'm 25, and stay home with my 2 daughters. I have some serious weight to lose (maybe I'll be brave enough to mention how much at some point). I'd like to drop 2-3 dress sizes. I've been running/walking on the treadmill for the last couple of weeks. I've been trying to get in 5 days a week, but my eating definatly needs some tweaking too. I'm thinking about getting into pilates aswell. If anybodys interested let me know.

Spiderlashes and Dayzie: since you're both parents, why don't you pair up?

You can share tips on time mgmt and fitting in your work outs.
Hi guys, I started getting serious about diet and exercise in March, and have lost about 15 pounds. I look much better, but I still have some weight to lose. Probably about another 15 pounds or so.

I'm 24, work full time, and go to grad school part time. So time is an issue. For the spring/early summer I managed to work out at the gym at least 3 times per week, resisted all sweets and sugar, and felt great. My weight has maintained steady, but I feel unhealthy, and haven't been resisting quite enough lately! I'm starting today to get back into the gym at least 3 times per week.

I also plan to walk to/from work more often (just over 2 miles). And take the stair all the time. This means I need to start wearing comfy shoes to work!

Hi.
I'm 19, nearly 20. I'm about to leave 'tec, and I have a feeling that's going to disrupt my fitness regime somewhat, so someone to keep me motivated would be awesome.
I love weights, and I do a couple of hours once a week. I really need to improve my cardio, but I hate running. I was doing plyometrics (legs), until my physio growled at me for not staying off my toe (possible fracture). I also attend an open adults gymnastics session once a week, as I'm very much into Parkour. Sundays are usually spent doing Parkour.
I eat relatively healthily, but I know I could cut back on some things ... like chocolate
I want to get as much into shape as I can, but slowly and steadily.
