W3D3 of C25K. For the first time, it was HARD. But I did it!
I also got my new running shoes today, so that was fun.
I don't know. My Achilles felt tight, but I do stretching before and after, including a couple Achilles ones.
We'll see ...

Wild~hair - congrats on getting through week 3! You'll notice that the 3rd day of every week will be the "long run". I prefer to do a M-W-F schedule, with the day 3 on Fridays so I have two days to recover, but that doesn't always work.
And, I'm sure you said before, but do you go to a yoga class or use a DVD? And if it's a dvd, which one? TIA!

Do you do the stretch where you get down on one knee and put your other foot (the one to stretch) beside the knee? So, one knee is on the ground, the other is like a standing foot with a bent knee. Lean into the bent knee. The Best Achilles stretch I know of. Does that make sense? I can't find a picture of this stretch anywhere...

We could learn a lot from crayons; some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names and each is a different color. But they all have to learn how to live in the same box. ~Anonymous

Yesterday, I went for a good 45 minute run. Then, I went to flow (tai chi, yoga, pilates) last night for an hour. I was so tight before I started. I slept rock solid.

Yeah, I am noticing that. That's so weird, I wonder why that is?
Actually, neither. I practice the Ashtanga Vinyasa primary series. Here's a video, with some seriously advanced practitioners [and really dorky music, imo]. This video is just a sampling: the primary series actually is a set sequence that takes up to 90 minutes to complete.
I had been going to Ashtanga classes steadily for about 3 years when I decided to try doing it on my own, which I've been doing now for about 3 months, 2-3 times a week. I've been doing all types of yoga for almost 10 years.
Three years of classes, and I still forget the sequence sometimes!
Oh, that's a good one, I'll try that — that might be the missing piece. Thanks!
50 minute walk tonight. I love spring!

Today I went to my step/pump combo. I increased my weights on squats, chests, back, and biceps. I hope I can move tomorrow.

Spent the whole day gardening! It was a gorgeous day, so I had to be outside. We got a lot done, but I'm sure I'll be paying for it.
It's not like increasing weights like hopetocurl did, but it's using muscles over and over that haven't been used for awhile....

hopetocurl, thanks for that stretch tip. I used it tonight and it really helped.
I did Day 1 of Week 4 of the C25K program tonight. I am kind of amazed that I ran for as long as I did — 16 minutes total. Since I use the podcasts, I don't look up the program, I just do what the dude on the podcast tells me to do. So when he said there was a second 5-minute run coming up, I was all . But I did it!
I'm also liking the Week 4 podcast music much better than Week 3's.

This sounds like a great plan for getting into running. Is it a pay for service, or free?

It's free. He could totally charge for it, though. It makes it all so much easier and more fun. Plus he gives you mini pep talks now and again. It's great.
I was telling my mom she could get back into walking by doing these podcasts and just subbing a brisker walk for the jogging parts. I hope she does it! [She's 66 and I've just introduced her to downloading podcasts for her Shuffle.]

Does anyone have one of these... I want one. It's for timing intervals.

I don't have one, but it looks intriguing. How is it "worn"? If it just clips on a waist band, it wouldn't work for me - I'm too short waisted! If it's worn on the wrist like a watch, then I might consider something like that. I have an ironman timex watch, but I find it a nuisance to program all the time - mostly because I have to look up the instructions everytime I want to change it up!

Another fascia stretch, if you sleep on your back, tuck the covers in tightly at the bottom and slide your feet in so that your feet a slightly flexed. Or if you sleep on your tummy, do the same thing. I do this, it feels so good.

Holy pilates!
I've never pilates before till I stumbled across that youtube link Suburbanbushbabe posted near the begining of this thread. I ended up ding 4 of the ten minute videos. The stretching one, the burn one, the abs one and then the thigh one. I can definately feel it today and I'm going to try and keep doing them everyday. So thanks SBB!!
The only problem is I'm not very flexible and have about zero balance, so sometimes I just fall over....but hopefully that will get better with time. I'm really just looking for tone, maybe loose like 5 pounds for summer.
