I'm a bit bummed. I had planned to run the Marine Corp marathon ( not the entire thing just the 10k) in October, but it sold out in like 20mins. 30,000 slots to run 27 miles gone in 20 mins. What the hell!?!?!
I'm gonna have to back door my way in. There is a pool of running slots reserved for Marine Corp vets, active duty and family...so now i gotta convince my BF who is a Marine vet to run with me so I can do it.

More push ups, Nike Training, and a few runs. Unfortunately, I did not start the new program but I'm maintaining what I've been doing.

Still been running 3 times a week. I ran 5 outside for the 1st time yesterday. I had only done it on the treadmill previously. It went really well and I was pleased with my time, 54:21. For me, that was really good. I will probably only run once next week because my race is next weekend....sooo excited. I'm feeling good though...definitely confident that I can handle it. In addition to the running I've been doing a little strength training and some ab work. I'm planning on tackling middle-age head on and kicking its butt!

Today I'm resting. I don't really have a choice since the busses don't run today.lol
I've been focusing on strength training so when I go to the gym I do that first. Then I do my cardio. I find that doing weights before my cardio makes doing cardio more challenging.

Been sick all week and have no strength to go to the gym. I haven't even been able to eat anything for the last 2 days.

I've been to the gym everyday this week. Yesterday's workout was brutal but I still felt good. I did weights for a little over 20 minutes, focusing on my whole body. Then I did this fancified elliptical for 30 minutes. I hate/love that machine because it works me out really good. It's really challenging as opposed to the other ones where I have to put the resistance on 15 just to sweat and get my heart rate going. The workouts on it are great. But I be feeling like I'm gon pass flat out. Breathing all hard and sh*t. Lol
Today I just did machine weights. I focused on abs and legs.
My back has been bothering me lately though so I may take off tomorrow. Idk yet. If I go I'll just do cardio.

Sick sick sick. I managed to eat some soup today...first thing I've eaten in 3 days. I managed to get to the gym on Monday but I've been to sick and weak to go this week. On the bright side...lost 3 pounds this week...mostly because I'm not eating.

I got in an awesome 5 mile run this afternoon and it was surprisingly easy considering I was so tired today.

OMG...my race yesterday was beyond awesome!!!! ... I can't stop smiling. There were 9500 people in the race I was in, the 8K. The weather was absolutely perfect, which I was really concerned about because it was supposed to rain. Instead, the clouds cleared off and it was gorgeous! The atmosphere was sooo festive. Runners and spectators alike were dressed up in their St. Patty's finery, and spectators lined the street and boardwalk holding signs, ringing bells, cheering everyone on and giving high 5's as you ran past. From my 1st stride to my last, I felt good. I immediately got into a good groove, didn't tire too badly and maintained a good breathing rhythm which I sometimes have trouble with.
My time was the best I'd ever done 5 miles in, and with all the weaving in and out due to the large number of runners, I was really happy about that. There were 7 of us, including DH, and we all felt enormously successful.
This was the 1st race I'd ever done...

Congrats! I'm glad your first race went so well
Mine was derailed by heat - I went out too aggressively for the 70 degree weather and just crapped out after 9 miles. Average pace for the first half: 8:34. Average pace for the second half: 9:27. Oops.

I think your pace sounds awesome! I usually average about 10:30-11:00, but the average in my last mile was 9:46...I couldn't believe it!! Were you running a half or full? I'd like to do some 10K's, but am not sure I'm cut out for a half. I think I could probably do it with a run/walk technique...maybe run 2 miles, walk a minute or 2...but I'm really not sure. I'm also not sure I really want to, except I'd love to rock that 13.1 sticker...lol! I just started running last july as a way to get fit and healthy, and I have to be somewhat careful because at my age (54) things squeak and creak and take longer to resolve. I've gotten to the point where everything feels pretty good right now. I used to have a LOT of hip pain, but that has gotten much better in the last 2 or 3 months.
When is your next race? I've got a couple of 5K's lined up, one of which is a mud run/obstacle course...have I lost my mind or what?? Also thinking about doing another 8K in May.

I was doing a half marathon. You could totally do one if you wanted to, just work up to it slowly. It seems intimidating, but it's something that's really achievable for most runners, particularly if you just want to run it, not race it.
I have no idea what races I'm going to do next! I think I'm going to stick to shorter races like 5k and 10k this summer and try to work on my speed before I think about the longer distances again.
That, or my husband and I are considering being crazy and signing up for the Goofy challenge at Disney World in January, which means running a half marathon on Saturday then the full marathon on Sunday

I've been running more seriously the last 2 weeks in prep for my half marathon in 4 weeks.
6 miles in 68 minutes today. (Give or take some for traffic.)
I was feeling weak, but I feel much stronger now. I can only improve from here.

These last two weeks have been kinda a bummer for me. I ran once last week and none this week. I still have been at my 24lb mark with 3 lbs to go. I guess I was letting the whole amount I had to lose get the better of me and just wanting my tummy to look better than it is. What bought me back? I decided to wear some pants I had from two years ago thinking they should be good because they ran kinda small. Soon as I put them on they were slack on the belly and wrinkly on the thigh. Also a beautiful top I still purchased from lane Bryant. I tried the 18 on and it was slack by the armpits and back area. I couldn't let it go cause it was tooooo cute but I needed a 16 and I tried on a dress that fit in a 16. So I am trying to get back focused and hit it hard. I need to go grocery shopping, finish my last official 3 weeks of my running program, and start Rippped in 30. 102 lbs overall to go
Curse you iPhone!!!
