I deadlift on Sundays, and Wednesdays. As a warmup, I go walking on Sundays (3 miles), and do Tae Bo (30 min.) on Wednesdays. I've kept up this routine for 3 months straight. Last Sunday, I deadlifted 135 pounds. I plan on keeping this routine. It works well for me!

Curly and PROUD!!!

My hair has a mix of low/med/high porosity, and it's medium textured (some are still fine, though!)

CG since Sept. 2011
Cowash: Vo5/Suave Naturals/Tresemme Naturals*
RO/LI: GVPCB*, Tresemme Naturals*
Low-poo: Shea Moisture Moisture Retention
Stylers: KCKT*, Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Honey*

* represents my HGs!!! Finally!!!
I've added back squats to my routine. I do them on Fridays. Today, I started with the bar (45 lbs.) My trainer (my dad) was a little leery about making me back squat because of the rods in my back, but my back squat form was far better than my front squat form. I'm on the right track!

Halfway through the Fitness Challenge. I've lost 3 lbs and 12.5 inches. At the end of the last Challenge I had lost 16.7 lbs and 13.75 inches. So this one is all about toning up and building muscle (very difficult for me). It's a different trainer this time and the workouts are much harder and more individualized. Fun so far!

I'm also about 3 weeks into a 30 day plank challenge. Whew! It is difficult. I am supposed to be up 180 second planks and really have a difficult time getting past 100-120 second without switching from forearm to extended arm planks.

Dec 1st I'm going to start a 30 day wall sit challenge. I will post a link to it then if anyone is interested and wants to join me.

Hello Fitness Curlies, count me in! I have a very short term goal to workout at least 5 times per week until my cousin's wedding in December. Here's my routine:

30 Minutes Rebounder 3x a week (Mon, Wed, Fri)
Walk/Jog alternate day (Tues, Thursday, Sat)
7 minute Workout Daily
Resistance training 3 x a week (Tues, Thurs, Sat)

We can do this!

I'm recently getting more into fitness. Ideally here's my schedule:

lift weights: 3x a week
jogging (briefly): 3-5x a week
yoga: 1-2x a week
Pilates: 1-2x a week

I'm pretty bad with jogging/running in general so I'd like build up endurance... thinking about the 5k program. I'm definitely dedicated to lifting weights 3x a week, and Yoga and Pilates to supplement or if I can't get to the gym to lift.

I have a question, what websites or apps do you use for fitness?

My very favorite place to get workouts to do at home is www.fitnessblender.com.
They have just about anything you could want - easy workouts or hard, 5 minute workouts or 60. They are a very cute husband and wife team and seem like ordinary folks (young and fit, no doubt, but not overly built).

In November I worked out 24 hours and 27 days. December gets busy but I'm going to try hard not to let my workouts slide too much.

Tomorrow I'm starting the 30 day Wall Sit Challenge. Here's a link for anyone who'd like to give it a go! 30 Day Wall Sit Challenge - 30 Day Fitness Challenges

Is anybody still doing this? New Year's resolution time ... I really need to start going to the gym. Step one will be signing up. Then I NEED to start being active.

I am not motivated. I hate exercise!!!! But i want to be healthy and I know my muscle pain is much better when I am active.

Anybody have similar new years resolutions and want to keep each other motivated?

In December I worked out 13 days for a total of 14 hours. Not enough but not bad with the hectic schedule.
I really want to work out more and harder for the new year.

SaMmle, I hope this post gives you motivation! Don't try to overdo it at first - baby steps! I'm sending you a pm.

To everyone on this forum - thanks to all of you I got back into it and I've been power walking and dancing a lot this past week. I'm really happy about that. Good luck to all of you with your fitness programs in 2014

Anyone know where I can find LONG workout tops that cover my butt? Please?

I can't find any to save my life...
This month's challenge (crunches) should be pretty easy compared to the last 2 (planks and wall sits). They were hard!

So yesterday I walked five miles, today I did the elliptical for 30 mins and I am so out of shape! It's hard not being home either ... So I'm struggling to eat healthy while being away. I wish I liked this! Lol maybe in a month I will feel better about it.

I used to be all gung ho about working out and lifting weights, and I had some really good muscle forming in my arms. I used to to Turbo Fire from Beachbody.. but sadly it contributed to a severely herniated disk. So after lots of PT and patience, I am ready to get back to being serious about fitness!

I'm finding I have to modify a lot of my stuff. Does anybody have any recommendations of workouts that won't hurt my back? I'd love to start yoga... my muscles are screaming tight.

So far I've been doing 10 mins on the Stair Master, walking 2 miles on the treadmill, resistance band training for my arms and legs (mainly physical therapy exercises I learned), and a few videos at home. I just did Walk Away the Pounds for Abs the other day (used to be super easy for me) and it KILLED my legs! Starting off small.

I am FINALLY home today!!! On our travels, it was really hard but I managed to work out doing elliptical for 30 mins and weights for 30 mins in the hotel fitness center a few times. Tomorrow I'm out to get my gym membership at the gym down the road. I HATE cardio, but don't mind the weights. I have to be careful because of my back injury too.

Sixelamy, I have really bad back muscles that knot up all the time. Yoga does help me a lot, and even if I don't do a full yoga routine, I like some of the stretches and have been doing them before and after I work out. I am trying to do more lower body exercises and not push it too far on my shoulders and back.

Something i love that doesn't hurt me is swimming, but that is seasonal for me up in the northeast ... our gym doesn't have a pool!

My week:

Monday 30 minutes of dance cardio

Tuesday - 1 mi run + 1 mi elliptical

Wednesday - 1 mi walk + toning

Tomorrow I'll either go to Zumba or do a run. Friday more walking + toning.

This week has been great! I've been doing the plank and wall sit challenges in the 30 day challenges (listed above, thanks for that) with my boyfriend! The plank is my best friend right now, the wall sit not so much.

I was going to start the Couch to 5K program tonight, but our weather is awful and I won't venture out to the gym when it's this slippery. I think I'll do Walk Away the Pounds again and some resistance band exercises.

Awesome! Planks are supposed to be amazing for you.

I got to the gym after work today and did 45 minutes of this hybrid machine that was like a stair-master/elliptical combo. I wanted to do weights, but I was too intimidated by all the strong guys around and didn't want to go by myself :-\ Maybe next time!
