Spent 4 hours moving mulch today.... Lots more to go, but my back won't let me do any more for now.

just got back from a 40 minute walk. i'm glad i wore a sweatshirt - even though it was warm when i started, the wind was really strong and it got cloudy and cool about halfway through!

I have some catching up to do here!

Monday I did Week 5 Day 1 of C25K. Week 5 is going to be an interesting one. I can't believe 2 runs from now I'm supposedly going to run for 20 minutes straight. But I didn't ever think I could run for 5 minutes straight either, and I did that, so ...

Tuesday was beautiful out and I went for an hour long walk along the creek. It was gorgeous.

Today I did 60 minutes of yoga, flow style, which was a nice change. I'm getting very bored with Ashtanga as of late, so I think I need to mix it up a bit.

My strategy for staying motivated = keep it interesting! If I get bored, I move on to something new without hesitation. This really seems to work.
Wild~hair -- Congrats on the progress w/ the C25K!!

I took off yesterday. Today will be another long day of moving mulch.... I hope to finish up the last of the 10 yards that's sitting on my driveway!

We could learn a lot from crayons; some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names and each is a different color. But they all have to learn how to live in the same box. ~Anonymous

Thanks 2poodles! I would love to see pics of your garden when you're done! I love gardening, but I live vicariously through others on that at the moment.

Week 5, Day 2 of C25K tonight. Ran for 8 minutes straight twice! Unbelievable.

I walked for 15 minutes on the treadmill to warm up and to wait for the slow guy who was more interested in primping and looking in the mirror than actually lifting the weights in his hand to finish with the weight bench. The best part is that he left a pack of cigarettes and a lighter on top of one of the racks of weights. Way to be healthy, dude. (BTW, I work out in the fitness center at my apartment building, so I'm not sure why he even needed his cigs with him at the gym. To smoke on the two minute walk home?) After he left I did my weight training routine.

No problem, WH! Now when I'm feeling really out of shape and unhealthy, I think to myself that at least I am not that guy!

I ran intervals for 20 minutes today. I rotated between 2 minutes walking, 1 minute walking at 5% incline, and 1 minute running.
Everyone's being so consistent - that's great! I've kind of switched to functional fitness for now. Spring is so busy in the garden. I just had another 10 yards of mulch delivered....

Yesterday my allergies went nuts so I took an allergy pill that zonked me out.... After my sniffles and itchy eyes calmed down, I had a lovely nap!

I did intervals on the treadmill yesterday.

I hope to work out tonight, but I have 30 papers to grade before tomorrow morning, so I have to decide if I'd rather go to bed at a decent time or work out.

I've been working too much and somewhat stiff from my big run Sunday. So I took Monday off and today went for a long walk. I hope to take up the running again tomorrow, work be damned.
I wasn't sure if I was going to do the Week 5 Day 1 or Week 6 Day 1 routine, because as of today I was still really feeling the effects of my run on Sunday. I thought it might be very wise to slow things down a bit.

So I decided to just go with it and see what happened, which is super easy to do because the routines are very similar, save a 3-min difference in the length of the middle run. I thought if I was in that run and really suffering, I could cut it short.

This is the first time with the C25K that I've felt this way. My attitude up to this point has always been, "Bring it on!" And not because I was pushing myself, it was totally a natural response my body was having to the running.

So I wound up doing Week 6 Day 1, although it was very challenging for the first run, and somewhat challenging for the second.

Then on the 3rd one, about 1 minute into it, something shifted and I started sprinting and I sprinted to the end and felt great. It was weird!
