Did 25 minutes of yoga to keep things well oiled.
I'm going to try very hard to do yoga most days, even if it's just 20 minutes.

I beat my 2 mile time (again!) this morning by doing intervals on the treadmill. I usually wimp out on the treadmill, but the intervals kept me interested, and I came in at 19:30!!! (I know that this is still a pretty slow time for most ). I think I could have done faster by going even faster on the hard intervals and taking shorter break intervals, but I wanted to make sure I didn't burn out the first time I tried it.
I also did 15 minutes of crunches/upper body work. I LOVE upper body work. I am a wimp in that I cannot lift a ton of weight, but I do bunches of reps, and I love the almost instant results I see in my upper body. I wish I could say the same for my abs and thighs, which I am NOT loving right now.

Yesterday was not great because I put it off until after work and then I was running late to a friend's birthday party. I only did 20 minutes on the elliptical and a few sets of crunches and upper body work. My abs are definitely feeling the ab work today! I like that, because it makes me feel accomplished even though it was a quicky workout.
I also spent a couple of hours playing DDR and guitar hero at the party. That should count for something, right???
I have a HIIT session planned for after work today with more ab work. I am hitting the abs hard since I am going on vacation in a week and a half, and I had recently gotten lazy in that department.

Yesterday I ran intervals on the treadmill by varying the incline. Basically a work/rest interval. It was HARD...but I survived.

We could learn a lot from crayons; some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names and each is a different color. But they all have to learn how to live in the same box. ~Anonymous

Did 25 minutes of yoga on Tuesday and Thursday. On Wednesday I didn't do anything because I had some sort of icky stomach thing going on.

The weather was too nice yesterday, so I ended up skipping the HIIT session in favor of a 2 mile walk with my DH. I have a 6 mile (!!!) run planned this afternoon with my running partner, so I can't back out of that, although I am pretty sure it will involve at least one walk break. We are getting ready for a 10k Sept. 13, and this is our longest run yet.

I had to check back in to say we made it the whole 6 miles without walking! This is the longest consecutive run I have ever completed. I think I will reward myself by buying some KCCC!
Sorry I just had to share my excitement with someone (and DH has already heard about it for 30 minutes). I am still on a high.

Thanks for sharing my enthusiasm hopetocurl! This board has been great for keeping me on track. I am definitely not a "runner" (I can remember that it was just about a year and a half ago when I ran two miles back to back for the first time without walking). In fact, I used to avoid anything that involved sweat in any way, but I am really starting to surprise myself!
I am taking it easy today with a 4 mile walk with DH.

Yes, be sure to allow yourself easy days...otherwise you'll burn out. I have a tendency to do that... I took Friday off from Pump because I had to pick up my kids...but secretly, I was glad... I needed a day off.
Added this AM: did my interval hill training. Done! Yeah!!

I haven't been posting here much, but I have been doing yoga. Not sure where I left off here, but wow, I had a big yoga week last week. I was off from work and decided I was going to try to do about an hour of yoga every day, something I've never done before. I managed to do about 70 minues, ashtanga primary series, on M, T, W, and Sat.
On F I did about 50 minutes upon waking up. I didn't eat beforehand, and that always makes me weak and dizzy, so I cut it a little short.
I only skipped Thur because of pet illness. I was so stressed, I couldn't get to doing yoga. Which always in hindsight strikes me as so counterintuitive. Those are the days when I need it most!
Took Sunday off as well, but I'm back at it today with primary series, as soon as the 2 hour post-lunch window has closed.
What I'm noticing is a very rapid improvement in form, endurance and technique. It's pretty cool.

Good for you, wild~hair! I find I do the same thing sometimes - put off doing yoga on particularly stressful days. Doesn't make sense to me either! Nice to know the mat is always there waiting for me. But I applaud your ability to handle ashtanga. Too much for me - I love my iyengar yoga! Did 45 mins today.

I did my interval endurance training this morning...followed by 10 minutes of pigeon, lunge with a reverse twist(for the hips), and awkward airplane.
Wild~Hair and 2Poodles ... OOOMMMM!!!! (I don't do a long practice, but I do have to practice for about 10 minutes daily. It's clears the mind.)

 Is there any other kind?
ETA: 45 minutes of yoga. I faked David Swenson's 45 minute Yoga Short Form, since I haven't yet bought the DVD [trying to curb spending right now].
So I stole the sequencing off an amazon.com review and went through the series, feel vaguely unethical all the while. Nothing like feeling guilty while you do your yoga!

Did 45 min walk and yoga stretches afterwards - not a full program, but just to loosen up. Also did 3 hours gardening. My garden will be on a tour on September 7, so I'm working to get it into great shape! It sure is easier to get a garden in shape than it is to get me in shape!!
