You marathon types wow me. I've never done anything like that. Not because I doubt myself, I just lack motivation!

I am smack dab in the middle of C25K Week 3 right now. Just finished Day 2.

awesome job Wild!!
Never did I think I'd be running half marathons, just 5 yrs ago...but it sort of just happened. someday, when time permits I'll go for a full but for now I like the distance of a half....getting a run in for 4hrs just seems to be beyond fitness to me. kwim? not something that I want to do too much to my body.

I give tons of kudos to all you runners. I tried that - completed the C25K and everything, but never did enjoy it. Too much back, hip and knee pain for me. But I can walk! To be honest, though, after finishing the marathon, I haven't walked more than 5 miles or so at once. I ended up losing my right big toe nail and it's still only half grown in - which is a real nuisance now that it's sandal weather! And that annoyed me - I had walked 21 miles twice before walking the 26.2 without any problem.... It was either the additional 5 miles or the difference in terrain, I guess.

oh no! bummer about your big toe Poodles! Were there lots of hills, down hill stretches? or shoes a little snug? Have you ever been to a running specialty store to get your gate accessed to make sure you are in the right kind of running/walking shoe? that makes a HUGE difference in how you feel while running. At any rate, walking is excellent exercise too and I say do what feels good for you. Walking that distance is amazing

Default is it too late?

*peeks in* Hey curlies! I'm new to the board, but I have been DESPERATELY trying to find a workout partner(s)! All of my friends want to workout out but don't have the motivation. I'm tired of waiting on them so I've started Yesterday I began the c25k? Is that the couch to 25k run I've heard so much about? I walked/jogged and I realized I am sooo out of shape! Is it too late to join you? I feel like the original poster.... if I have some accountability then maybe I'll do it.

Thank you for welcoming me! (is welcoming a real word?) Anyhow I knew 25k sounded off lol. I am starting over and officially beginning the c25k today! Are you curlies taking days in between to rest? Or are you doing some kind of exercise/weights on your off days from running? I guess I need to go back and read the rest of the thread huh? lol Thanks again for letting me join you!!!

tryn2, I'm not on the couch to 5K, but am on break from training. Just ran a half marathon last weekend and have another one scheduled for Aug. I run 3 days a week and zumba 2 days a week and rest the other two. It's super important for your body to rest so it can build muscle and get stronger. What does your routine look like now? I'd incorporate strength training on some of your run days, maybe on the ones that aren't as intense a workout?
haha, I suppose one could do a couch to 25K..why not ?

didn't run last night, got sucked into helping dh mud and tape our basement until 11pm. woke up and ran 5mi this am then did Lolo Jone's Core workout (http://www.runnersworld.com/article/...X3X4-4,00.html) while my kids climbed all over me

Welcome tryn2! Yes, you can join up here anytime, we're always in and out with this stuff.

I did Week 3, Day 3 of C25K last night. On the off days I do nothing which kind of kicks azz. [Last time around I was doing yoga 3 days a week, on the off days, which was nice, but A LOT.]

I am doing push-ups daily, though, just to keep my upper body strength up.

Wild, you should check out the 100 pushup challenge, I started it but got frustrated after 3 weeks because doing pushups with 3 monkeys...er..kids climbing on your back doesn't always work out so well.

5+mi total run with Max (4)and Nyla (2) in the jogger and Olivia (6) riding her bike. We ran ~3.5mi, stopped at the park for lunch and play and I did Lolo Jones core workout there then ran another 1.5mi back
naptime now I think
