Thanks for the tips Wild, it definitely is hard to get a good night's sleep....esp with a 2yo that likes to wake up with the roosters. sigh. I hve tried a little pb and toast with banana before a run and turns my stomach into a train wreck. you'd think it'd be the perfect combo. I'll just have to keep trying.

They have potassium, which I understand is good to replenish if you're working out, but try eating it afterwards.

Biked 18 miles to work this morning. There was a detour so the route was longer than planned. Kicking myself that I didn't put my bike computer on. I had it with me and everything, just forgot.

I took the bus/train home, I was very tired!

I don't eat anything before I run... could that be an issue? I sometimes drink Ensure or something like that before I run.

All I know is I get lightheaded if I don't eat before strenuous exercise. And if I exercise several hours after a meal but don't have a snack, my performance definitely suffers for it.
For the hair: it's goes into a pony [pretty loosely, but my hair is thick and 2c/3a curly, so all that texture holds in it place] and then a bandana over top, triangle fold, tied tight around the hairline, corners flapping in back, you know the deal.

My runs are getting sweatier, though, and my hair's pretty long, so soon I'll have to put it up somehow. A flexi-8 usually works, in a loose twist, then a bandana over it all to minimize frizz.
Wild~hair thanks for the input.

I used to eat a little something but unfortunately it would mess with my stomach... that is not a good look while running around others. I think when I really start strength training then I will have to eat beforehand.

I'm starting to feel that runners high
I generally eat a Larabar before my run. I like the ones made of a mixture of fruit and nuts (cherry pie, apple pie), not the ones like Cashew cookie that a) don't taste good to me and b) are all nuts. They are yummy and filling without sitting like a rock in my stomach. They are also expensive unless you can find them at Trader Joe's, though!
"Well I love that dirty water. Oh, Boston, you're my home!"
thanks newcurly, I've heard of Larabar...though don't know where I'd find them around here. Maybe the Good Food store?

yikes, the banana definitely acts like a laxative for me. not good.

yay for runner's high tryn!!

Today was a running day, but also first day of period cramps! :P

So I rode my bike to do errands instead. A nice compromise. I'll be back at it tomorrow, Week 5 Day 3. And pushups!
completed w3d2 yesterday

Ooh I understand about running and cramps

lol @ enjoying running on the treadmill. Hey I say as long as you're working out

Mamacurl I love the fact that you include your little ones in your workout. My bff is struggling with that so I try to keep her encouraged

Tryn2, I think that it's important for my kids to see that regular exercise is not only important to maintain a healthy body, but is part of a normal every day lifestyle. I can only hope that they grow up getting regular exercise. They go to zumba at the gym (and can watch me through the two way mirror between classroom and kid room and we go out on runs from time to time during the summer...though I prefer to do my runs along, can't always do that. I'd definitely encourage your friend to find a way, it's worth it in more ways than one.

5mi run on the tm at the gym, and 15min lolo jones core workout

ITA with letting your little ones see you exercise. Hopefully they'll do the same as they get older. My daughter is away for the summer, but she loves to workout lol I wish my gym had an area for kids. How do you have "family" in the title but don't have anywhere for the children to go? craziness

Completed W4D1 today. Oh my. I struggled with running for 5 minutes. I did it so that's all that matters! lol

Wile, there's nothing wrong with you telling him his shoes were nice j/k
completed W4D2

I had to go to the university's cardio room today and get on the treadmill Be careful curlies! The other day I was running on the track as I always do and some weird dude approached me. He chatted with me for a few mins then he said he would meet me back on the track today. He ran off to go to work (as he said). The thing that spooked me was when I left the track I found a knife on the trail back to my car. It wasn't there when I came so I thought MAYBE dude dropped it as he left. Needless to say it'll be awhile before I go back out there. I really hate that because I love the fresh air, but just to be safe I'll run on the treadmill until I feel more comfortable going back out there with someone

where did everybody go? lol

finished W5D1 today
Hi tryn!

Way to go with C25K! Week Five is my favorite.

I switched from running to biking. My job took me to downtown this past week and a half, which means I can take the train in and bike home. I take the nice bike routes through the city, which makes it much more pleasant. So I did 11 miles home four days this week, just mapped it on mapmyride.com.

I also am keeping up with the 100 pushups challenges and am set to do week 2, day 2 today. It's a lot like C25K: hard, but not so hard that you want to give up.
Hey Wild~hair! Biking sounds fun. Wow 11 miles? That's greeeaaat!

I really want to try the one hundred pushups challenge. I bet your arms will be ridiculous when you're finished!

I still haven't started my workout dvds yet either, but I need to do some kind of strength training.

Good luck on week 2!!!!
just got back from vacation, great time. waaaay too much food and not enough exercise, though that's what vacation is for right? I did manage to sneak in a 5miler and a 7miler there. I start my training for my next half marathon this week, wow that snuck up fast.
this am did 8.41mi slow run, it felt really good despite the 29mph (35mph gusts) wind. luckily most of it was cross wind and little head wind.

Wild, sounds like biking is really something you are enjoying! That's awesome!

tryn, super scary about the weird dude at the track. keep safe!
