NROLFW = New Rules of Lifting for Women. It's a book written by Lou Schuler w/ weight training as well as a diet. I'm not really following the diet (at least not yet) but I'm really enjoying the weight training program. It just came out recently and is available in all of the bookstores as well as amazon.com:

60 or so minutes of yoga this evening.
Note to self — do not eat a Chipotle burrito and then do yoga later in the day, even if it's hours later. Better to eat a Power Bar, do yoga earlier, then eat.
Oy.

Well, I did an hour on the eliptical last night....totally ruined my hair (I flatironed and it look GRREAT) but I had to shampoo because I was dripping sweat. My thighs hurt so bad. I've found I get a good workout with a higher level.

I'm not doing too well this week. I got home late last night (10:30) and just went to bed without doing anything fitness-like.
I reallllly don't want to go to kick-boxing tonight. I just want to stay home and take a nap .
Alright, I'll go get dressed...

Good for you!! Just getting started is the hardest part -- and you know you'll be feeling righteous once you're done!
Let us know how it goes...

Hmmm, I was ready to go for a walk tonight — still am, actually — but it's snowing now and I'm thinking snow + ice underneath it = me falling on my ass.

Good for you, lilah!!
Did W5D2 of the C25K program. This one included 2 sets of 8 minute runs. I was intimidated by the thought of it, but it wasn't as hard as I feared it might be. Now I get to be intimidated by Monday's schedule which is 5 minutes warm-up walk and then 20 minutes straight running (or rather, my slow jog at 5.3mph!).

[Uh, should I be cheering Lilah on for getting some action? Hmm, feels a little strange, think I'll leave that one alone.]
In lieu of falling on my ass last night, I opted to walk today instead, and still stuck with my planned yoga practice. Which kind of surprised me, actually. I think this thread is a big part of my motivation.
So 60 minutes walking, 60 minutes yoga.
I'm going to sleep like a baby now ....

May I join in this support group.
My normal routine:
Sunday - run 3 +/- miles
Monday - Step class and Pump class (weightlifting to music with an instructor)
Tuesday - off
Wednesday run 3 +/- miles OR step class; then stretching class Tai Chi, yoga + pilates all rolled into one class ( my child has swim practice during the stretch class )
Thursday - off
Friday - Step class and pump class
Saturday - off or step class or a walk (it just depends on my mood)
I am usually really dedicated to my exercise routine. I have to have it... I"m addicted to cardio. I hate to lift...so I do it in a class setting.
I am joining because... I "gained" weight once I added the lifting into my routine. What-tha-hey... just hard to step on the scales...though the clothes fit great!!

Yeah, well I was off work yesterday, so that made it much easier! And I slept soooo well after all that fresh air and exercise, it was nice.
Still haven't walked today, however. I should go actually, before the sun sets.

I had to chime in here because I now weigh 145, but I'm still wearing clothes that fit me when I weighed 130. I can only attribute that to all the yoga, which has really built muscle, but it's still confusing and disorienting nonetheless.
Anyway, welcome to the thread!

Welcome Hope. I think that lifting weights and building muscle mass can be discouraging if you are going by weight alone. Muscle weighs much more than fat, so a solid 150 will look different than a softer 150, kwim?
Nice job on the workouts!
Lilah, I'll cheer you on for getting some....at least someone's getting some Good for you getting out to the kickboxing even though you didnt want to!
Guinness, nice workout that's a heafty load! I'd never done yoga, though maybe someday I'll look into it. Was it you who had the yoga room?
Friday was so full I didn't even have time to pee alone! Therefore, no workout for me.
Saturday 40min/4mi run treadmill
