You're my idol...

Anyone's calves get a bit tight? What do you do about it? I've been stretching very thoroughly
I'm baaaaaack!

I did 20 minutes of yoga last night to ease back into things. Then I picked up with C25K W5D1 today.

Wile, I do the below stretches for my calves. I do them twice for each run. The first after warming up, before running, then again during the cool down.

If you're doing these or similar already and not getting results, I would do even more gentle stretching. Hold the stretches longer, maybe repeat them.

- Find a post or a mailbox near the curb. Hold on to it and put the middle of one of your feet on the edge of the curb and let your heel drop. Hold the stretch for 5 full seconds. Don't bounce. Repeat other side.

- Stand. Cross one leg over the other, keeping your feet planted parallel and close to each other. Bend at waist, using your hands for balance on the ground. Bring your face as close to your front leg as feels comfortable. Hold for 5 full seconds. Don't bounce. Repeat other side.

I also do lunges that I hold for about 10 secs [helps with tight hips] and also the heel to butt stretch as shown here.
wow, what a weekend. I plan to do a long run tomorrow but not after getting a good night's sleep tonight. No workout today but did spend 10hrs on my feet at work (I am a bridal consultant so getting brides in and out of dresses all day, has to count for something I'm sure )

Wile, my calves don't really get tight anymore...I really try to keep them nice and loose during my runs (so not to get shin splints or cramps). Though I do some of the stretches Wild posted about and massage them from time to time (or have dh do it, though he usually requires payment of some sort )
keep up the great workouts chicas! I'm off to snooze.

Mamacurl, I didn't know you were a bridal consultant, what a cool job!

I did some light yoga tonight. That's my plan for early winter: run every other day, light yoga on off days.

I love the ideas that come to me when I'm on the mat. Amazing things happen in your brain when you stop thinking.
Wild, I really need to do some yoga again. I took a class a week last winter and it was so good for me. I wish I could make time for it again. I think that run and yoga sounds like a perfect combo of workouts.
Being a bridal consultant is fun stuff, before I started working there I had NO clue on how much was involved in the whole process and all of the different possibilities. It's so much fun!

I got a nice 9.5mi run in yesterday, weather was perfect for it. Nice and cool but not cold. Felt pretty good.

Thanks for the tips, mc & w~h..tho I do know whatcha mean about the payment thing mc...

Today is rainy & yucky, but suprisingly my curls look fabulous! Went a few rounds w/ the little one this AM, so by the time it was time to run, I was really ready to kick some ass & take names & did! 30 min no prob!

w~h...you're right about the not thinking part. When I get in the zone, I'm amazed at what I can do.

I stretched more & felt tight at first & didn't even realize when it was gone & felt awesome after the halfway mark...

Verah gig, mc...we had awesome weather here for our bazaar...y'all keep on keepin' on!
1hr mowing lawn followed by 1hr zumba

way to go Wile and Wild! you ladies are kicking some butt! Any races for either of you in the near future?

5mi nature run with the Rue Bug (Nyla). Was a nice run, though we missed her nap because of it, ah well. Got some lovely branches and pine cones and crab apple branches to decorate the house with. Might have to take another jaunt to get some more Anyone decorate for fall? My kids want me to decorate for Halloween, though over the top Halloween decorations aren't really my thing. I'd rather play up the Fallesque-ness (how's the for made up word of the day? ) of the upcoming holidays. I hope to make some cranberry kissing balls too, we do a kissing ball every year for the holidays though they are usually bought. I'm not super crafty but would like to try to make my own this year.
Ugh, am I really talking about Christmas decorations already??

Did easy peasy [ok, not *that* easy! lol] 30 min run to 80s music..that's the best beat to run to!

What is it about the little one having 'tude on the days I need to run! So, I just run all that off

mc...would love to do a race, but not for the competitiveness of it, ya know? Just the satisfaction
ah! lmao Wile

I hear ya on the racing for the fun and satisfaction of it. I'm certainly not out to take the gold at any of my races, it's just fun and good incentive/motivation to get out there and do something.
Love being able to run off kid tude I'm such a better Mommy when I get out and run off some of that stuff.

I did W5D3 today. I did noth-ing yesterday. A day off seemed about right.

Mamacurl, I should do a race. I keep thinking that would be a good way to stay motivated. My only hesitation is I only like to run on dirt, never concrete and only asphalt when desperate.

But I gather you're doing a trail race, so obviously such a thing does exist. I need to look into that.

Did my 30 min run. Hubby took the little one to school, so no major stress there...lol
Hi everyone!

It's been a while since I was last here. Life hasn't been going to great (not that you likely remember). So, here's the overdue update:

Anyways, I had x-rays and ultrasound done on my right arm and the results came back within a normal range. Things are ok with it interally. Which is good, however, there is obviously something wrong with it since it's not moving normally.

So, you may recall that I was in an accident over two months ago. My injuries are not healing. I have a frozen shoulder now, among other injuries. I've been going to physio for it, but there has been 0% improvement. The physiotherapist said that it'll take possibly years of therapy to get it even close to normal, and it's not likely to ever return completely to normal. It'll be stiff and stubburn for the rest of my life. Anyways, I can't afford to keep going to physio, it's very expensive and I am unemployed. My EI money is gone. I have nothing left to sell. I don't qualify for assistance, because I live with my parents and they cannot afford to assist me further. I cannot work because my arm is frozen. My other arm isn't much good, for some reason.

To top everything off, the lack of exercise is frustrating me. I'm usually a fairly active person. Sitting on my rear all day is making me go crazy. Even walking is still not very good, very painful. My knee is all wanky.

I'm sorry for even typing this; I'm sure no one really cares to read this stuff.

Good luck to all with your goals.
