Happy New Year all!

And, yes, I will be running tom, since it is my reg scheduled day...
FT, you flatter me. Sooo, not near perfection here. Just loving what I'm doing

Nice run Chicki!! How are the roads/trails/paths near you?

Wile, are we talking old school Madonna? Like a Virgin! ooo!..... Really can't go wrong with Madonna

did 11mi yesterday in the snow over top of ice that we'd gotten later last week. Interesting run, slippery, bumpy (frozen foot steps on the path). took it slow, but it felt great overall. Doing my 5k race tomorrow am so calling it quits early and getting a good night's sleep. Happy New year everyone!

Walked around the hills of Georgetown and the stairs of the National Cathedral for a few hours Wednesday, aerobics vid yesterday (50min), strength training/cardio vid today (55min).

Looks like we're all starting off the new year on the right track!

great race! burr though, super cold (think it was maybe 5 degrees? or colder). There were about 200 racers ( I think) though not a sanctioned/officially timed race unfortunately. Probably for the better since running conditions weren't optimal and hard competition would have been dangerous. Super slippery for the first (and last, since it was out and back) .25mi, snowy the rest of the way. I ended up making it in 26:17, second female finisher and I think 6th or 7th overall? Think I might have to try for another 5k when the paths are cleared of the elements.
Hope everyone is bringing the new year in with a good workout! plan on hitting up the gym tomorrow to run off some of the sweets and ice cream from today.

45min on the bike, almost talked myself out of it but dragged myself off the computer to just get it done. Felt good! Nice to get some reading in at least while on there, reading Good in Bed by Jennifer Weiner. Anyone read it?

Hour-long cardio/strength training mixed vid. Scale said I lost a little over a pound this morning. I figure that's pretty good healthy amount for a week. I also think I gained some muscle weight. We'll see how it goes next week!

That's not to say that it's not hard physically (for me), but it's easy to follow -- nicely cued, movements make sense, etc. I also have some firm "cardio" videos...which I really don't like as much. They're very dance-y and I find that I spend more time trying to figure out what the F they're doing than I do actually keeping my heart rate up. I have a cardio pilates Gaiam one too, but I haven't done that one in a very long time (year+). It's HARD. I will wait until I feel a bit stronger to start doing that one again.

Aussie, that's right. I remember you talking about the Firm. I've heard good things about them and was going to pick some of those up a few years back but never did. Decided to up my running instead. That's great that it has a nice mix of cardio, strength, stretch all in one.

heading to the gym for 3-4mi speedwork and 55min belly dance have a great Monday morning all!

Nice work, mc!
LA, the Firm is great. Good job keepin' on. Don't worry, we will help you along to keep you motivated. Love this thread!
Still waiting for the little one to get up so I can go do my run...
Keep up the great work, y'all!
great workout at the gym! did my 3mi in 22:29 and it felt awesome! I could have gone faster, but not by much LOL. Then 55min belly dance, and my instructor has really encouraged me to do a performance with her in Feb so I'm going to go for it I'm excited and nervous, I'll be getting in an extra hour of belly dance in a week to practice our routine.

Back to a full work week after a couple weeks of 2-day work weeks because of the holidays. Couldn't fall asleep at a reasonable hour on Sunday, so of course, I couldn't make myself get out of bed early enough Monday morning to work out.

I did an hour long video after work/dinner. I didn't end up doing it until around 9pm. My stomach did not feel well afterward. Not vomiting or anything.. just not feeling very nice. Is that common? Will my body get used to it? Or should I try to workout before dinner?

Happy New Year Everyone!!!

I haven't done anything since last Tuesday. Between traveling and being a bit under he weather I just haven't gotten it done. I'll be traveling this week for work too, so I'll be lucky to get 2 workouts in.

Glad to hear everyone else is doing good.

WileE, Isn't your race next week? Are you psyched?

Mama, Great race!! and I was able to see why your instructor wants you to perform when you posted the vid of your class. Good for you!

Aussie, I wouldn't say that was common, but I wouldn't call it uncommon either. Was your stomach fine before you started to workout? Perhaps you just pushed a bit too much. I will occasionally feel a little nauseous when I push really hard. I back off a bit and then I'm fine. Don't worry if you get just a little nauseous once in a great while. If it occurs often, talk to a doctor. Basically, listen to your body.

If you started working out within an hour or two of eating you may want to make sure you eat smaller meals before you work out and then have a small snack after.

If you do eat a large meal you probably want to wait 1-1/2 to 3 hours before working out (you'll have to play with the timing based on what a large meal is for you).

Cut a planned 14 miler down to 12.5 miles today because I developed a wicked, wicked blister on the arch of my right foot. My orthotics are wearing out and my foot rubs where the covering is worn off. I need new ones. This is a problem. Can't run with them...can't run without them.

mc - you are a speedster!

Okay I'm heading to the couch and I'm not moving for the rest of the night.

3 easy miles today. I only had a short window of time to get a workout in and I'm glad I got in that much. I have a nasty blister on my right arch and even with two bandaids layered over it I still was wincing a lot throughout the run. Irritating!!!

I haven't done much exercise for so long. I feel bad about it. It looks, however, that this will continue for many months to come, since I apparently very likely have a ruptured bicep tendon from my accident back in August. I'm still waiting on an MRI and ultrasound to confirm it though.

I find it almost impossible to imagine that all these doctors and specialists that have evaluated my arm and shoulder haven't put this together. I had to get told that this is the problem by my new physiotherapist! And the symptoms match perfectly.

hang in there AAA, soon you'll be on the road to recovery, now that they're able to pinpoint what is going on. Hoping for a speedy recovery so you can move upward and onward. Sorry you are going through this.

Chicki, bummer about the blisters Maybe try wrapping them in gauze?

Thanks FT, I'm a little nervous about how this will go. I've never performed in front of an audience. Should be interesting and fun, I hope!

5.5mi on the tm, .5 warmup/cooldown, 5mi tempo run in 40:45. 10min shoveling snow. Probably will be shoveling lots more tomorrow.
