the SELF challenge
has anyone ever done it?
is anyone planning to do it this year?
i've never done it before, and i've been telling myself for years that i'll join.. so i'm going to try to do it this year..
i get the magazine but you can also sign up online here
it officially starts tomorrow (but you can start later too)..

So, I have a question...why am I suspicious of the effectiveness of the weight exercises? I can't really see my arms getting too toned with them...

they probably want you to start off a little easy in the first month and then rev it up in the following months

it's a 3 month program.. each month it's something new, and every month they tell you how you can make the workout harder or easier depending on your level.. and they also have "bonus burners"..
the first month (in print) starts with the magazine that has Kelly Ripa on the cover, if anyone wants to buy it or browse through it..
MONTH 1 GOALS (cardio, strength, diet):
MONTH 1 GOAL: Do three 25-minute cardio sessions a week.
MONTH 1 GOAL Do two 10-minute strength training sessions per week.
MONTH 1 GOAL Banish fad diets forever, and find nutritional balance.
the plans (the specific cardio sessions and strength exercises as well as food plan) can be found in the magazine or online, once you sign up

so.. should we do monthly or weekly threads for the challenge? or we can keep it all here.. or we can have three separate threads: 1. cardio 2. strength 3. food and keep them going all three months
did anyone do anything cardio and/or strength training yesterday?
i'll admit i haven't done anything yet aside from signing up online

I don't know the best way to go about posting this stuff. I still need to read all the info about it - I bought the magazine today so I'm going to figure all of this out this afternoon. I did walk on my treadmill yesterday so I counted that. I also bought some Firm dvds today for $5 each...it will motivate me to get out my firm stuff for cardio/weights and actually do it! I get bored very easily with workouts which is why I hardly ever stick to anything. I would love to wave bye-bye to the 30 lbs I have been carrying around and adding on to for the past six years.

Walked on treadmill again last night...I cannot wait for the weather to warm up here so I can be outside. I hate the cold!

What has everyone been eating so far? I have been good today so far!
Breakfast:
English muffin (not whole wheat, ekk!)
1 tbsp peanut butter
Cantaloupe and honeydew
Skim Milk
Lunch:
Lentil soup from the cafeteria
Salad with dark greens, cucumbers, banana peppers, cherry tomatoes, feta cheese, walnuts, and oil and vinager
Afternoon and night is my worst time. I get bored at work and all I want to do is eat crap. I also am bad about getting up the motivation to make a healthy dinner. I’m planning to have grilled chicken, brown rice, and broccoli for dinner tonight.
I really like the way they’ve set up the eating plan, and I’ve felt full so far today. Now if I could just get rid of this boredom eating….

Yeah I'm definitely willing to give my measurements, etc. I haven't measured myself yet, but here are my other stats:
Current weight: 172
Goal weight: 155
Current size: 12
Goal size: 8 or 10

I will post my measurements and weight once I get organized. I am embarrassed to post these but I think that is the only way to make myself fess up to the reality of my current weight/health situation. And I didn't do any exercise for the past two days. I just returned from a rather un-healthy drinking and eating two-day getaway!
