thanks for checking in on me!

i'm not going to start today. i'm going to wait until next week. too much going on mentally. my close, dear friend's mother has stage 4 liver cancer and it's not looking good right now . plus i'm going fri for an upper gi test and an abdominal ultrasound to check my stomach because i've been having some stomach bloating and discomfort. i really want to do it but my heart and mind just aren't into it right now.

that is great!! i took my before pic then i read the fine print that they can use it however they like without my permission....uh, no.
i am starting next monday. my friends mom died early friday morning so i'm trying to help her with things and be available to her for support, etc. so for this week i'm still doing my regular classes at the gym. i worked out sunday and my biceps are killing me. i plan to start monday (accountability)

a few observations (ftfe i hope you read this and chim in!!)
1 - it's hard...maybe because i'm not a really morning person but some of the things i couldn't do on the fit test like the push up jacks and the low plank oblique move. in place of the push up jacks i just did modified push ups so i hope as i progress i'll be able to do some. in place of the low plank oblique i just held the plank which at that point was tough (it's the last exercise).
2 - it's a good workout....i was sweating, i was challenging. i'm a fitness instructor and i was still challenged. it gives me ideas for my class too.
3 - it's a good video production....no cheesy set, no weird music, no crazy talking. at least for the fit test that is...
4 - i'm glad i got it and i'm still excited even though i couldn't do some of the moves. i've got to get enough rest so i have a chance in hell to do this and improve with time.
ftfe i have a question...with the power knees are you just doing one side only? maybe i missed it but i would have thought you would have done each side for 30 secs or a mins so you stay "balanced". i was tired so i might have missed it but i didn't notice changing sides in the video.

Hi Luv,
Shaun only has you do power knees on one side during the fit test. You only do the fit test 5 times so I didn't worry about being "lopsided". He has you do power knees in a few other workouts but he does balance those on both sides.
Push-up jacks were hard. Especially at first. I only did about 18 on my first test and my form was nothing to write home about. The low obliques were really hard my first time. My hips and calves muscles were actually cramping up on me that first and second time. They get easier.
Simply continue to modify and take notes on what you did to compare that with your next fit test. There is no way you can't improve if you continue with the workouts.
Do what you can on each workout and don't forget it's okay to modify. If you watch the workouts even the super fit people in the DVD need to take breaks. These workouts are about pushing yourself beyond your limits.
How was day 2? or are you on day 3?

luv,
I am going to work on steady state cardio and weight work on none treadmill days as I mentioned in the accountability thread. So 3 days on the treadmill and 2 or 3 days weight work.
How's Insanity going for you?

i've got to figure out what i'm going to do. i did it monday but yesterday i had a 1 hour lifting class and a 30 minute class that i was teaching (rather intensly as usual) so i was too tired to do insanity. i'm going to do day 2 today. i might have to move my days around from what days they suggest...maybe even stretch it out more to accommodate my teaching schedule.

luv,
I'm glad you like it. You'll love the results. As far as your schedule goes I would say just do the workouts when you can and move to the next workout. You'll still see results if it takes you 90 days instead of 60 (okay 63 really)....
Which ones have you done so far?

i'd only done the 1st 2 workouts. for some reason i'm having a hard time getting these in. i gave up a class at the gym (for personal reasons) so i'm hoping this frees me up a bit. i think i'm going to start from the beginning again.

Luv,
Sorry, I've been MIA. How's Insanity coming, have you had a chance to fit it in your schedule?

i'm such a loser....i haven't picked it back up. i've been doing other stuff. gotta start though. i still think it's a great challenge. i was at a point where i felt like my body needed less intensity, not more.

Oh stop, listening to your body makes you smart and NOT a loser. As I said before Insanity will be there when your ready. It's a great challenge and will force you to push your boundaries so I do encourage you to try it when you feel up to it, but not before.
Just come back and let me know when you do get back at it.

Reviving this thread:
How does the program work? Do you do a different DVD each day? How does it compare to P90X? Anyone still doing it?
Thanks!
