I'm fresh out from experimenting with a month of no combing... just rinsing/masaging my scalp with water, pulling the ends just a little to stretch out the curls, and shaking out.
It was neat. There was really not a difference in how my hair looked, until you streched random curls. you could see where the shedded hairs was.
I also did a water only regimen. My hair stayed moistured, but i was also randomly misting my yair with water randomly throughout the days just to be on the safe side. Now I'm back to normal, and the only thing that changed when just doing water only is that the hair did not shine as much and it was not as soft. i'm glad to have done the experiment. The detangling after almost a month was not as bad as I thought. I'm most happy to have done this though.
At the same time, I kind of missed my conditioner and it is great to be back. I'm probably going to start co-washing once a week and do just water in between. idk. I'm playng it by ear.

products: after everything I've tried & loved, I'm now down to just using yes to carrots conditioner. i actually just rub it on my hair while dry, get my hair moisted up with just that, then carefully finger comb/seperate sections of my hair (takes about 15-20 minutes). after that, i hope in the shower, let the water hit and shake-rinse my hair and massage my scalp. once out, i simple let my hair air dry. every now and then, i'll use a diffuser.
btw, pardon my all lower case. i just love 'em.
