I NEED A SYSTEM!

Hey guys and girls,

I need your help. I have very curly hair, 3B. It's been quite a while since I've grown my hair out and I'm having a lot of trouble getting healthy, shiny, isolated curls. Right now, my hair is frizzy and ill-defined looking, like I've been electrocuted.

I'm sick of trying different shampoos and conditioners. I need a solid system for healthy, wholesome curls. One thing I can tell you is that I'm shampooing too much. I see on this site that a lot of guys like DevaCurl No Poo. Please help, I need a system! Mainly, I need to know how often to shampoo, what to do in between, what product(s) to use. Also, if you have any preferred light-hold mousses or gels and you find those helpful, I'd be interested. I should note, I do not like the greasy gelled look...I'm a "natural" person.

Thanks in advance, you guys rock.

We're in the same boat. I dont shampoo very often, maybe about 3 times a month. I skateboard so I deal with the wind every day and my hair would turn into a puffball if I didnt use a leave in conditioner, which is what I think you need. I use one from Biosilk (it has Dimethicone in it so some people are probably against it) and then I use Herbal Essences conditioner when I'm in the shower. I use a wide-toothed comb usually to comb it out when its dry.

(i think I brushed the front or something in that one so just look at the sides and back)
Hi there & welcome! I don't have any good hair advice for you (I'm barely a 3A these days), but I did want to suggest that you try cross-posting your questions over on the General Discussion About Curly Hair board. I don't think this one gets much traffic; I bet you'll get more responses and suggestions if you try over at the other forum.

Good luck!
Hair type: Completely confused: mostly 3a, some 3b parts, and even 2 in places; very fine and thin.
Products: Elucence clarifying & MBC; CK, F/X Curl Booster Fixative Gel (when I can find it)

Conditioner- Trader Joe's Nourish
Leave in Conditioner- Paul Mitchel The Conditioner ( he only uses this on the day he washes his hair)

The day he first washes his hair it looks fine. But then every morning he needs to put his head under the shower and then Squeeze his hair to damp dry to refresh it. I really think he needs some sort of gel or refresh to use on a daily basis. because except for the first day he does his hair it can often look part frizzy and part curly.

So if anyone has a suggestion of an easy, light, non greasy, coated or crisp refresher for daily use we will be grateful

Oh I should say he used mixed chicks and curl and shine and thought they both made his hair to crisp.
I use Beyond the Zone Noodle Head Curl Activating Spray. I just spray it on in the morning, scrunch, and it is so much better! But if you guys are 100% CG, I wouldn't use it, I think. But it doesn't dry my hair out.
