What is the Most Annoying Comment(s) made about your hair??

Like Tree10Likes

I think the most annoying thing for me is not any single comment, but the assumption that by having curly hair, you aren't taking care of it.

People have this weird idea that it's easier to take care of curly hair instead of straight hair.

Once somebody said that they envied my hair because it was so easy to take care of and they wished that there hair wasn't so straight and difficult to maintain.

I'd had a rather bad day, so I launched into a recitation of everything I do to my hair: the first CO-wash, the second CO-wash, the way I lean over in the shower to give my hair volume, ACV rinses, the adjusting of water temps, the gels, plopping...

I just get tired of curly hair being seen as the "easy" way out or hair care.
There are many things people say, but the most annoying is when people use the word 'frizzy' in place of the word 'curly'. I'm like, 'that really isn't the same thing!' and they always reply with, 'but your hair IS frizzy, it's not straight, is it?'

No! No it's not! I spend a lot of time making sure my hair isn't frizzy! It's CURLY. GET IT RIGHT! D:

The irony is that the co-worker didn't have naturally straight hair - more like 4b naturally. But my BFF who is a 2b has a sister with 3c hair who didn't know what a diffuser was. Lol

EVERYONE asks me is my hair natural. My hair has been just the same as it has been ever sense I was born. All these people have known me for a VERY long amount of time, and they still ask me! They also ask me to straighten my hair... And I'm just like, "Why should I?" Just because my hair isn't like yours, I have to change it? Rudeness.
I get asked, if I use what you use will my hair grow that long?
or when I take out my extensions or wear shorter/shrunken styles, did you cut your hair?
How do you get it like that?
I wish I could just chop it off and put on my head.
What exactly do you do?...Hmmm....That ain't go work for me.
You need to comb your hair.
What you a rasta now?
Every time I see you, your hair look different. What's wrong with staying the same?

The last three were compliments of my uncle.

Well i have been told to 'grow some hair' because apparently it's my fault that my hair isn't long. Another is by my mom who said: 'You can't have your hair curly the way you want it. I have to straighten it cause it's nappy' that is the English translation since my mom speaks English as a second language. It hurts more when its in another language.

I hate when people don't believe it's my real texture They'd be like:

Is that a weave?

You put you hair in straw set ay?

Anyway stuff like that. I remember my grammy's helper was looking at my hair and I knew it was coming. Its not that she didn't like my curls she loved them she just didn't believe they were mine. So she was like
maid: how did you get your hair curly
me: nothing thats just how it is
maid: you braided it over night
me: no it just curly
- it's so soft, how do you get it this soft?
- I like the 80s look
- *when it's straight* omg it feels like white-girl hair
- You should keep it straight..
- it's so curly
- *when I do a twist out* so you just twisted and untwisted it & it does that??? :O
- is your hair naturally curly?
....... I'm sure there's many more, lol.

Well for me most annoying comments were "If I didn't have a comb at home to comb my hair" "Why is my hair so frizzy" and one time my coworker said "That I had African American nappy hair" which I found this comments extremely racist not all African American have nappy hair and not all Caucasian have straight hair.

Hmm, I get a lot of comments and assumptions about my hair. People see me with curly hair and they tell me 'Oh to have your hair it must be so stress free...' or 'Wow, you DON'T have "black" people hair, so you're not black.' People just assume I'm not having difficulties maintaining my hair, lol I do have difficulties. I have pretty hair but I also have unruly hair, it wouldn't be pretty if I didn't take care of it. They just bring a whole bunch of ignorance to the topic and it just boils my blood. A simple compliment is all that was needed.
I hate it when people grab at the first ringlet they can get, pull it, and watch it spring back up and go "OMG!!!!YOUR HAIR IS SOOOO LONG!!".
I especially hate it when people are like "my hair's so curly" or "when i was little my hair was REEALLY curly" and they have wavy or stick straight hair.
(My hair is not that particularly long anyway)
I also hate it when people are like " is your hair growing or do you have extentions" and I reply "two inches of extentions!?"
"You should straighten your hair, you would look soo much prettier."

"How did you get your hair like that??"

"I like your hair better when it's straight"

-strokes hair roughly-"What do you use on your hair to make it to soft?"

-when hair is just straight-"OMG! You got a perm?!"

"Why don't you straighten it?"
"You should straighten it."
"Are you pure Chinese? Chinese people are supposed to have straight hair."
"You permed it???"
"Are you sure your hair is natural?"
"Why is your hair so frizzy?"

"What did you do to it? How did you get it to be that way? Can I curl my hair like that?"

ugh
I didn't get an annoying comment but an annoying THING done to my hair yesterday and it really pissed me off! I diffuse in the morning before work but only about 50% and let the rest air dry on my drive with the heat on in the car. Anyway, my coworker came by my desk and said "oh, curly!" ....and ran her fingers through my hair! I'm sure she thought that was funny but I did not and I ended up with stretched out waves on the part of my hair instead of the springy curls it had almost completely dried into!
I think this could have gone on the "Say it" thread too. uggh!
My friend touched my hair and said "Oooo You got that African hair!" I was just thinking "WTF?" but instead I did a fake laugh.
