How To Get Curly Hair Back After YEARS Of Straightning & Perms?!

I'm 14 Years Old & I've taken it upon myself to go natural. I've Gone A Year With NO Perms And I Only Use The Flat Irons About 1 A Week or Two. I've been getting perms since I was about 8 or 9 and I've been straightening my hair since I Was about 10. I REALLY Want my curls back! They use to be about a 3c but now I can only get the back of my head and my roots to curl. The rest is straight. I've Been Using Carol's Daughter & It Helped Get My Roots And The Back Curly But Nothing Else. I Was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how I could get my hair to curl again without using heat.
woow congrates on wanting your curls back, going to be a long journey. bad new is that theres no quick way of "fixing" heat damaged hair, you just have to be super nice and gentle to it, cut the damage off and wait for the new stuff to grow out.
though somthing that could help is if you get rid of all sulfate and cones from your hair products, consider going CG as that will help you hair get back its curl n bounce.
for the heat damage that is there, i would try same hot oil treatments, i use a mixture of different oils each with somthing else that i no will do my hair good, i use a base of EVOO infused with rosemary, (rosemary helps with hair growth), i add honey, my hair loves it, then i add my other things, argan oil, (nothings better for hair repair) jojoba oil (newly bought want to try it) pumpkin seed oil (packed with vitamin A and E) tea tree, (great for keeping a healthy/clean scalp) i warm it up and applie it to damp hair, leave it in my hair for as long as you can, over night is perfect then wash it out with a gentle non sulfate poo.
also think about helping your hair from inside out, eatting plenty of fruit and veggies will help, drinking lots of water and plenty of exercise.
hope somthing here can help you

my hair: 3c, high porosity, high density and coarse hair (i think i finally figured that all out)
my hair loves conditioner only styling!
my hair goal length is bra strap length when curly.

I was in your same situation last may. And now my hair looks a lot better. My curls were almost non existent. It's almost back to the way they used to be (3c)
I started out cutting out all heat styling, for the summer. Lol but I cheated like twice(:
And I used homemade protein and deep conditioning treatments.
For protein, bananas, eggs, and mayonaise are good. Lol but it's gross tho. And I just used evoo, Shea butter, and natural conditioners to deep condition.
Rinsing with apple cider vinegar is good too.
Idk why ppl say heat damage is irreversible, cuz my hair is like 95% back. But the top canopy of my hair is like 3b so it gets damage really easily so my ends are pretty straight.... And I doubt they're coming back. It's takes a while, but you'll get there.

Oh and I just did the aphogee treatment last night, it's really good. I thought it might be too much for my hair, but it actually made it really soft(:
Thank both for your help(: ! I told my mom about what you both said and we are going this weekend to get some healthy new products for my hair! I'll let you guys know how it turns out! THANKS AGAIN!
no worries! good luck, and remember to have fun with it as well, and there will be tough days, but just keep thinking ahead, like right now its really dry where i am, and of cause my hair doesnt like that, and although im packing it with oil and condish its still not as good as it can be let us no what you end up buying

Congratulations! First off. Most 14 yr olds i know are into having the super straight hair. As you where told before its going to be a long journey. There will be good & bad days. I started going natural July of this year. I wear sew ins but I leave the top half of my hair out . Yesterday I washed my hair & its gotten pretty long. Only problem is the front of my hair is still permed :/ the BEST product in my opinion where you will see dramatic change & you will get your curls back after the first wash is a product called WEN only problem is you have to order it online its pretty adorable though its like 29 dollars.

Congratulations !! I love to encourage others to go natural !! Well one of my close friends was in your position and she actually grew out the perm in her hair and cut the permed part of it out !! I don't want to tell you to cut your hair without your parent's permission but when you do cut it it grows back thicker and curlier !! the reason your roots are curlly cause that 's the natural part ! Use carol's daughter milk products they work well and try to stay away from the flatiron. Goodluck Princess !!
hi my name is stehanie ,an i need help i have natural curly hair, and i have been straighing my hair with perms and a straightener and know my hair is falling out and my curls wont come bck , i went sallys and got some stuff for my hair and nothing works so could someone please help me and tell me what to do
I am from Sao Paulo, Brasil, and naturally our country has beautiful hair! but, my mother wanted my hair straight, like most brasilians, it was an honor to have white textured hair. She permed my hair, and I developed black textured hair! From then I just kept straightening it and perming it, and then I moved out and died and relaxed AND bleached my hair in the same day! Well, then I stopped using heat, and washed my hair with shampoo and conditioner, then used coconut oil and braided my hair everyday with no heat until the shampoo and conditioner was out. Then I realized my hair was smooth and back to how it was! It works!!!
From my experiences after years of straightening and heat styling (although no relaxers) the only way I got my curls back was to let it grow out without heat styling since my hair was heat damaged it was irreversible, so i did transitioning styles and used little to no heat and waited till it grew out curly and to ensure the health of my hair I deep conditioned regularly and gave my hair protein treatments about every other week. It will take a lot of patience, and care but i'm sure you can do it! Congratulations and good luck. :-)
