4b curly newbie and needs help
I am going off to college this Sunday and I have a problem
I have been natural for two years, but hid the growth in braids, so now that that my braids are out my hair is a nice length, but extreme dry in a Afro puff and when I wash it it's shrinks. My family always put me down telling me to get perm and insulting my choice my telling me little sister never to go natural like I am. I know the problem is because my hair is dry, but I don't really know how to solve it... Please help |
Have you read about the Curly Girl Method? It helps with hair hydration. Also if you relaxed for a long time prior to cutting the dry hair may be scab hair. Look on YouTube. There are lots of videos regarding both. :-) Especially check out MahoganyCurls on YouTube.

Well congrats on college hopefully you'll see a natural on campus that can help.I'm not sure whether you need a mositurizing conditioner or protein....in the mean time try not to wear it in a ponytail/bun everyday.try a braidout or french braid.

CONDITIONER.
CONDITIONER. CONDITIONER. and did I mention CONDITIONER? Only wash your hair with shampoo when you feel it need it. (gets itchy, build up, ect.) and use lots of conditioner. use it in the shower, leave some in your hair, don't be afraid to get it wet either. Water is very good for your hair. Try different conditioners too. Some thick, some leave in, to find the one's that work for you, but it will take a bit of time. I sort of neglected my hair and it became dry and frizzy. I used lots of conditioner and made sure to keep it hydrated and detangled. it's not as nice as it used to be, but it's a lot better. Not as frizzy....cutting it probably helped XD Anyway, it's your hair, not there's so it's not there decition. if you like it then nothing else matters. they don't have to deal with the stupid relaxers and breakage and crud. good luck XD :D |
