Just a few tips that I do: Personally, I began showering at night time, doing the whole scrunching in the gel, plopping, and waiting for it to dry to avoid wet hair in the morning. The thing that worked for me was to NOT touch my hair at all and to go to bed with it FULLY dry. My hair needs the gel cast (aka the annoying "crunch" that gel gives to your hair) to form fully in order to have frizz free curls in the morning. I usually mess with it and scrunch out the crunch in the morning with just a bit of olive oil (or whatever you'd like to use, you don't have to use oil at all), and voila!
If you do prefer to shower in the morning, diffuse your hair! It only takes about 15 minutes (more or less) to do. You can also use the pineapple method to go get second day hair, to avoid the washing and diffusing process again.
