I just told her I wanted to shave my head. When she said no, I told her I would do it when I was eighteen, then. Eventually, I guess she got tired of me complaining/seeing me not do anything with my transitioning hair, because she took me to have it all shaved off a few weeks after my seventeenth birthday.
I was 22 and still residing with Mommi. She'd known for a while how I was frustrated with the length and condition of my hair. Just before I was gonna do a relaxer retouch, I took a close look at my hair. Then I set out all the products I'd been using and took a long hard look at them. I threw a few items in the trash along with the relaxer & neutralizer.
When Mommi got home that evening I said, "I've decided that the only way to get my hair where I want it to be is to start from scratch. So I'mma stop relaxing it and give my hair a break."
She liked the idea and smiled saying, "Good! I'm proud of you."

I'm 21, and my curl pattern changed recently from 1b to 2b because I stopped using silicones. Everytime I let my hair down my mother asks me - why the heck did you curl your hair..and each time I patiently reply.. Ma , it's wavy, and this is how my hair really is..lol.
Anyway, tell your mom that you like your wavy hair, she should respect your decision and eventually get used to it..
