I just want to know my hair type. I've researched, researched and researched, but still couldn't make up my mind. So I decided to get other's views and opinions on what my hair type could be.

My 13 year old daughter has the exact same curl pattern and I have wondered what her was. I think that it's 4a, but I may be wrong.

Neirelle 06-21-2013 11:31 PM

3c-4a

CurlyCutie1394 06-22-2013 05:42 AM

It's 3c/4a combo like my hair

Longjourney 06-22-2013 11:46 AM

Thank you for the responses , I'll really appreciate it :)

I agree with the others, looks like you're a 3c/4a combo. Welcome.

Yes, it looks like 3C/4A to me as well. ItThat being said, I have discovered that while hair type is nice to know, porosity and density is a need-to-know for naturals. Discovering my porosity (high) allowed me to change my hair care routine in that I restrict the amount of heat I use, and use protective styles to minimize the amount of brushing/combing I do. It also helped me discover that protein is essential for my hair, and I look for that in hair products. Hair density allowed me to discover which styles look best on me. You may find tons of 3C/4A's out there, but regardless of hair type, they might have different needs. Hope this helped and good luck!

I agree^^^^^my daughter is 4c, lo porosityand protein sensitive. The things that works sooo wonderful for others with the same curl pattern just dont work on her hair

But one more question how do you find out my porosity ?

Neirelle 06-26-2013 12:08 AM

You can find it out by getting one strand of your hair and put some water in a bowl, put your hair in the bowl of water and wait for 5 minutes and if it stay floating its low but if its like touching the bottom of the bowl its high porosity ...

Longjourney 06-26-2013 10:48 AM
