Default Not curly anymore?

So recently, I died my hair. Bad I know! But, there is a problem, my use to be ringlet bouncy curls are ALL gone? Now my hair is just wavy with some ringlets here and there and some curls here and there. I have been deep conditioning my hair and doing hot oil treatments and before I go to sleep I apply my coconut oil and a tad bit of olive oil and do a pineapple on my my head and my curls still have not returned. I love my curls and I do REALLY need them back haha, I miss them. ;/ I died my hair about 1 week ago. Anyone everyone..please help.

Welcome! Did you do a major change, use persulphate bleach say? How did your strand tests come out?

Try overnight coconut oil soaks on dry hair forget the olive oil, alternate with intense hydrolysed protein treatments. Most deep conditioners don't contain anything that will penetrate or patch repair damaged hair.

If you curls are not back within a month sadly you will have to grow or cut out the damage, the protein structure has been damaged beyond salvaging.
2a-2c, medium texture, porous/ colour treated. Three years CG, growing out mechanical and chemical damage = breakage and very high porosity. Past armpit length heading for waist.

CO-wash: Inecto coconut
Treatments: Komaza Matani, coconut oil, Hairveda Sitrinillah
Leave in: Fructis Sleek & Shine (old), Gliss ultimate volume, Inecto argan
Styler: Umberto Giannini jelly, Boots Essentials gel
Experimenting with: going back to basics

When you say you "dyed" your hair, do you mean you deposited color (usually requires minimal hydrogen peroxide) or did you lighten your hair (which isn't technically "dying" and requires increasing amounts of hydrogen peroxide, the lighter you go)?

Either way, it's still possible too much developer was used in the formula. That happened to me a while back when I unwittingly used a Clairol semi-permanent dye that contained too much developer (many colors in that line were recalled for this reason). My hair lost its curl in most places, a real mess.

I agree with CurlyCutie - try protein. If this is the cause of your hair stress or damage, protein will help fill in the "holes" in damaged cuticles and add strength to your strands so that you re-gain elasticity (and therefore, curl).

Keratin protein treatments are terrific. I used Joico K-pak when this happened. I left it on for 30 min.s each time, followed by a deep conditioner - Matrix Biolage, or GVP, the cheaper knock off of Matrix - is terrific for this. I had to do several of these treatments before my hair bounced back. And Firefox means well, but don't automatically assume your hair won't recover in one month's time. My hair (and plenty of other ppl's hair) definitely took well over a month to recover, closer to two. How long it takes also depends on how often you wash/wet your hair, or give it treatments.

I think a better indicator of whether or not your hair is hopelessly damaged, is to check for gradual improvement. If your hair doesn't improve at all despite multiple treatments, then it's time to try at least one other tactic, then consider if your hair is damaged beyond repair.

Getting a trim can help too because it lifts weight off the strands (more spring and volume).
