Natural Teen

I was natural before high school den society made me change he way i look to appeal to their likes :sad8: After 2 years of relaxed hair i bced and went back natural since i've been getting teased. People are asking me what animal attacked me... laughing at my hair when it is in twists and some even stare and ask me what is going on with my head. :/ I act like i dont care but the insults really hurt i want people to like me for who i am and how my hair is...even though it might be short and no as curly as other peoples :/ .... Help?
Btw i am 4b/4c

They're most likely just envious that you're different, because they're the ones with chemically altered hair, and they couldn't work up the courage to do a big cut or go natural like you. I wouldn't listen to them, because you're doing it for yourself, not them, right? And at the end of the day you're going to love the results and they will too, but probably would just act as though they don't, as they do, now. I bet your hair looks gorgeous <3

If you don't want people to see your hair, you could get protective styles done, which would help you to grow your hair at the same time, such as twists and box braids, but y'know. It's all your choice.

You can do it! <3 :love2:

Girl do not let their rude comments affect you. I big chopped the summer before my sophmore year and trust me I got the hate comments too, but guess what. Who gives a flying feather because at the end of the day you are gorgeous and in a couple of years you wont see any of them ever again. Keep your head up girly.:sunny:

Keep your head up hunny. I would say you have it easy because your haters aren't related to you. After my last mini chop, my mom would say strange comments about my hair. She had beautiful wavy hair after going thru chemo treatments. (Mom is a breast cancer survivor) but she went back to perming her hair after she finished her chemo pill. Now she's come around, after my deva cut. Just be you & the people who want to know you will know you. Graduation will here before you know it.

Wow. How mean people can be. I got some joke and I have 3c hair and am an adult. This happened when I first went natural. For example, people would tell me that my straight hair looked more natural!?. I would reply, "so what grows out of my scalp isnt natural??!!" Lol or if you dont like it you can take that up with GOD because I dont care. Now that my hair is much longer and lays flatter by itself, no one has nothing but positive comments. This transition starts with teasing but all those people will be green with jealousy when your hair is long and healthy. Chemicals dont have to be the option for everyone. I see natural hair all over corporate america so dont let people use that, "you will never get a job like that " line.

That's too bad that they're making remarks like this since I think your hair type is some of the prettiest on the planet.

I was at the grocery store just a few days ago and I saw a woman with what was probably 4c hair. It was beautiful little ringlets all over her head. I just had to stop and tell her how beautiful I thought it was; couldn't help myself. It truly was beautiful hair. Very, very curly; much more curly than I have ever had but it was gorgeous.

I actually don't think the straightened hair looks more natural. You can see the differing texture at the roots, usually and it's not a "natural" sort of straight. People who are born with straight hair have some beautiful hair too, but naturally curly hair is some of the most beautiful hair I have personally ever seen.
