I have 3b type hair and its about shoulder length when curly and its a little past my shoulders when straightened. I like to wear my hair down, but the curls just shrink.Unlike a lot of curly haired people out there I am not a fan of poof.. I'm kinda new to actually trying to take better care of my hair. I ALWAYS used to wear my hair in a bun. Now I since im older I wanna do cute and more sofisticated hairstyles and not always just the same thing over and over again (which would be twists to side or a twist bun...) Youtube pages or links to good hairstyles would be great. And how to make hair loose. I've been using gel, but I have heard that its bad for your hair.

Gel isn't bad for your hair at all, as long as you don't get one bursting with drying alcohols. The majority of people here (including me) love gel & swear by it, even! I'd be lost without it

I'm not really a fan of poof either. I also love gel for controlling my curls. I totally recommend the super soaker technique or a variation on it, if you look in the threads at the top of the general section you'll find one with links to that and other useful techniques.

Here's a video I had saved on my Hair playlist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmDC...zbgRXdsvE2VMfA You'll notice in the menu to the right that there are similar videos suggested and you can choose others from there to watch and choose a technique that appeals to you and/or that you think matches your hair type.

I agree! LA looks and super soaker work wonders on my hair!

One good thing about poof is you can do lots of cute scarf things with it. Lots of vids on that too and great scarves on Etsy for relatively less. Charming Charlie has a lot of decent scarves as well, though not as light as the hair scarves on Etsy.
