curls and guys

many insensitive guys have commented on my hair in various ways and its actually starting to get to me.
"gross, looks like *****, WAY hotter straight"
why cant they accept my hair for what it is?
Fodiwata, these guys aren't just 'insensitive'. Anyone who thinks they have the right to comment on someone's appearance like that is a total a-hole. Ignore them - if that's you in your avatar, your hair is gorgeous! The guys are probably just insecure about themselves, or perhaps blind .

Thats horrible, I'm sorry that happens to you.

just curious, where do you live (just vaguely, I'm not trying to stalk you). A lot of people have had rants similar to yours but this has never happened to me. I've begun to wonder if it has anything to do with location.

Those guys might have done that just to see if you would crack under the pressure and change your hair. A guy did this to me a few weeks ago. I had to let him know that I was doing this for me, not for anyone else.

If people don't like you for you, then there is something wrong with THEM not YOU. Always remember that. A real guy will not only focus on looks, but personality as well. I am pretty sure you are a nice, vibrant girl and they are just insecure because their personalities suck and they can't get with you.
I Love Epic Men...

those guys are just immature. they're just intimidated by a confident girl that stands out from all the straight haired boring girls
I do not want to disrespect anyone, but the majority of people are just narrow minded & focused on the mainstream ideals of beauty. If you don't fit a certain cliché people actually believe because you are different you're not pretty. But who needs those people anyway!

Judging from your avatar I think you have wonderful & pretty curls! Just because some guys believe the definition of looking hot requires having straight hair like Britney Spears doesn't mean anything!

And what do you want with someone who likes people who look ordinary!

Embrace you being different!
I would of smacked them!

Then again I'm used to cute gay guys and trans girls&boys who think my hair is just adorable and fun to play with. So I might just be spoiled by these wonderful people that are my friends. I'd advise you to get some friends like that, they're alway truthful in my expirience in telling you what they think. And they can be picky, so you know the complement was earned.

Don't let them get you down!

Guys do this to me all the time where they tell me I look better with straight hair and it really makes me angry! If anyone says it I totally freak out. But I am starting to slowly learn that having curly hair is really unique compared the the hundreds of girls with straight hair at my school. I am really glad to find people that embrace their hair the way it is!
my friend and i have the same problem. guys and girls alike always ask us "why dont you ever straighten your hair?" and we both like curly hair better. we constantly have discussions wondering guys like straight hair better. i mean, curly hair is so much more elegant and unique, whats the problem with it?
i guess i have the totally opposite problem. i used to straighten my hair everyday and my friends would always be like "wear it curly it so pretty". so finally one day i started to, and i got so many compliments. it was so suprising! i thought everyone was going to hate it.

and it was kinda funny because guys started to notice me because of my curly hair, and they would always say i looked cuter/hoter with it curly... so now i wear it curly almost everyday

boys don't know what they want. most aren't even smart enough to form their own opinions outside what the media says is "hot" or "sexy". if they don't like you for you , regardless of how you hair looks, they're not worth you and your curly fabulosity!!

i heart naturally curly hair!

If they don't like it .. tell them to bump a stump. Hey- wear your hair the way YOU want to!! Guys don't know what they want , it changes.
Only you can make the right decisions for yourself.
Yeahhh I've been in that boat too.

I'll always remember my sophomore year of high school this senior that I had the biggest crush on told me when I straightened my hair for homecoming: "Your curls look good, but with your hair straight, you look beautiful!"

I was traumatized! I felt like I was only beautiful with straight hair. And my hair is really long and really curly, so it takes like 3 hours to straighten (with a professional!) Definitely not worth the time and energy.

I'm just now starting to love and accept my curls. It's funny because since Taylor Swift has become so popular, I get a lot of "you look exactly like Taylor Swift!" comments from. I've also noticed a lot more guys appreciating my hair and how beautiful and unique it is. It used to only be the old ladies who were like "people pay lots of money for hair like that!" or "I perm my hair try to get it to look like yours!" Not exactly flattering to hear your hair is the envy of the resting home generation It's great to know that the younger generation is catching on to the beauty of the curl!

Get excited ladies and gents! There's a curl revolution starting. =)
Who really cares what people say about your hair? As long as you like it, what does it matter?

When I was in high school, I was the only girl with an afro in my entire school (went to a catholic private school). Got a lot of comments about it and you know what I told them? "Hey duder, I don't happen to give a flying f*ck. Piss off." And nobody else made comments to me after that, hahaha!
I'm "TechKnockout" now.
I'm sorry.
I feel for you, I really do.
the worst insult I ever got was that my hair looked like a birds nest...

And in grade school they used to call me
TUMBLE WEED. yea, tumble weed....

I say screw society.
I won't settle for their ways of conformity.
If people don't like you for you, then I guess then they aren't really worth your time, now are they?

Your hair is beautiful and that's what really matters.
those a**holes wouldn't know beauty if it hit them in the G***damn face... sorry, I have so much anger for those who don't even appreciate and don't tolerate other's diffrences, and preferences, namely our hair...

I spent 6 years of my life living for other people.
life is too preicous and short to be doing that.

I had to learn that the hard way... but I'm glad I did.
That's a terrible thing to say!
Some people just don't think before they speak
Your hair looks great, if it's your hair in the pic.
THAT'S STUPID!!!
if guys do that to you, than they are just not thinking. I'm not just saying this, but i think that guys who say things to you like that actually mean the opposite, they just want to be tough and act like they are better than you. Your hair is beautiful, if that pic. is you. Embrace it.:icescr eam:
I just needed to jump in, I'm a high school teacher, so I see this all the time and kids always have something to say about my hair. I think that when you are in high school you try desperately to look like everyone else. It sucks to stand out. But in real life it's those that stand out are the ones that everyone remembers. The hair definitely helps that. Just relax, be confident and enjoy yourself. I think good things come to those who send out good things.
3c/4a...sometimes frizzy, always beautiful!
