I'm on my way to growing out my hair to BSL and possibly longer- to also grow out a horrible uneven cut!

I agree about the Millennium trilogy. I read the first one and I had to push myself to get through it. It was good though! But then I tried to read the second one and I just couldn't push myself anymore. Maybe I will try to read them again some time, when I don't want to put so much work into reading!
Ok I finally finished reading the girl with the dragon tatto and it was better than I expected. I agree that I had to push myself to read it until about 2/3 of the way through and then it all started making sense and then I couldn't put it down. I have the next two books in the series but I'm going to wait a bit before I start reading it.

I'm in a read 100 books in 1year contest and this book slowed me down seriously. I'm going to read a few novels from authors that I like and then come back to this series.

The Woman in Black

OMG. Talk about dragging it out. I want to find out what happens but it's an effort. And it's not a creepy as advertised.
Fat does not make you fat. It's actually pretty important.
The twilight series. Read the first and about 1/3 or maybe half the second one and i couldn't go any more and yes I've seen all the movies
The Celestine Prophecy.

Truly ridiculous and idiotic. Once I tried it out, I seriously questioned the wisdom of maintaining a friendship with a woman I knew who loves this book.

Conversations with God, couldn't even finish it.

Sadly my BFF loves both of the series. Sometimes I just want to smack her for that.

The Hunger Games. It felt like I was reading a kids book (because it is) and I just didn't like it. I liked the movie though.
-Beowulf (oh. my. GOD. I HATED this book so much!)
-The Black Jewel Trilogy (couldn't figure out the "rules" of this different world)
-The Scarlet Letter
-The Sookie Stackhouse series (got to about book 6 then couldn't take it anymore. Such crappy writing and no plot. That being said, TrueBlood is hella better)
-The House on Mango Street
-1984
-The Great Gatsby
-Monster
-Pride & Prejudice (I've decided I can't do Jane Austen...)

-That 70s Show
Game of Thrones. I love the tv show and even enjoyed the book to begin with but my god it does go on and on. Incredibly tedious and not that well written, personally.

Luckily - you can read a summary of every book and chapter online, far quicker and about the same level of enjoyment of George Martin's writing!

Since I wasn't doing much reading the first 2/3 months my goal is 200 this year. So far, I've already read 77 so Im pretty confident.

I haven't been doing much reading at all the last month though.

I'm amazed people think he's such a good writer. They are very dry, repetitious and filled with unnecessary detail and backstory going back centuries.
I liked the Twilight series. I started Host but I just couldn't get into it.

I read some book by Melissa Weinstein I think. I want to say it was called Wanderer? I don't even know what it was about. I kept waiting for something to happen. Nothing ever did.

A couple of Stephen King books bored me. He gets too descriptive.

usually if I can't dive into a book I dont read it.

Thanks Kat!

Ooh another one I just remembered that I didn't finish. Tried to read it a few months ago.
A Discovery of Witches, Deborah E. Harkness

Started out pretty good, kept me interested then went downhill pretty fast.

I'm sorry, but I don't like twilight. I started the first one, and nearly fell asleep. For some reason it depresses me, and I am a christian and find this bad. My mother was not happy when she heard I was going to read this book. It talks about vampires, and the fact that bella wants to be bitten, which would damn her, is affending to the church and I am against it.

Yah. Don't like it either, but not for that reason
The Almost Moon by Alice Sebold. I have mixed feelings about it actually, but leaning more toward dislike.

I also wasn't a huge fan of Twilight. I read all of them and I just wanted to punch Bella in the face lol. She seemed so desperate! I know, I know...it's a teenage love thing, but I wasn't THAT desperate back then!

Tatiana De Rosnay's The House I Loved was awful. I think i recommended it someone on this board, or maybe it was another board, and I'm sorry!

She just drags on and on about the SAME thing. I finally just skipped ahead to the end - very last page - to see how it all played out. The ending was terrible as well!
We Need To Talk About Kevin.

Damn that dragged on and on and on. I'd already figured out the ending by the end of the first chapter. I forced my way through it.
