Oh, they get worse. Around book 10, the whole series devolves into a porn free-for-all. It's terrible.
Oh but that's like the best part besides the killing and all the guns!

Ok...maybe its just me...but I've been trying to read "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" and just can't get into it. I kep trying to plug along but its just not doing it for me. Please tell me it gets better....
i totally know what you mean. i think its hard for me to remember all the names. i honestly have to say i LOVE the movies...

I agree about the Millennium trilogy. I read the first one and I had to push myself to get through it. It was good though! But then I tried to read the second one and I just couldn't push myself anymore. Maybe I will try to read them again some time, when I don't want to put so much work into reading!

Ok I finally finished reading the girl with the dragon tatto and it was better than I expected. I agree that I had to push myself to read it until about 2/3 of the way through and then it all started making sense and then I couldn't put it down. I have the next two books in the series but I'm going to wait a bit before I start reading it.

I'm in a read 100 books in 1year contest and this book slowed me down seriously. I'm going to read a few novels from authors that I like and then come back to this series.

Holy Cow! 100 books? in one year? My highest is 24 in one year.

(I'm in a contest to read 11 books by authors I haven't read before)

The Woman in Black

OMG. Talk about dragging it out. I want to find out what happens but it's an effort. And it's not a creepy as advertised.

Just came across this. That book was sort of ok as fiction and poorly written. It's pathetic as a guide on spirtuality. I honestly didn't even see how it could be such because it just seemed like a fictional adventure of a male twit.

Conversations with God, couldn't even finish it.

Sadly my BFF loves both of the series. Sometimes I just want to smack her for that.

The Hunger Games. It felt like I was reading a kids book (because it is) and I just didn't like it. I liked the movie though.

-Beowulf (oh. my. GOD. I HATED this book so much!)
-The Black Jewel Trilogy (couldn't figure out the "rules" of this different world)
-The Scarlet Letter
-The Sookie Stackhouse series (got to about book 6 then couldn't take it anymore. Such crappy writing and no plot. That being said, TrueBlood is hella better)
-The House on Mango Street
-1984
-The Great Gatsby
-Monster
-Pride & Prejudice (I've decided I can't do Jane Austen...)

I did like Lord of the Rings a lot though.

Game of Thrones. I love the tv show and even enjoyed the book to begin with but my god it does go on and on. Incredibly tedious and not that well written, personally.

Luckily - you can read a summary of every book and chapter online, far quicker and about the same level of enjoyment of George Martin's writing!

Lol. I read 166 books last year

Since I wasn't doing much reading the first 2/3 months my goal is 200 this year. So far, I've already read 77 so Im pretty confident.

I haven't been doing much reading at all the last month though.

Where can I find these summaries? I never finished book 4 or 5, I just couldn't. Tedious indeed.

Here you go.

A Wiki of Ice and Fire

I'm amazed people think he's such a good writer. They are very dry, repetitious and filled with unnecessary detail and backstory going back centuries.

I liked the Twilight series. I started Host but I just couldn't get into it.

I read some book by Melissa Weinstein I think. I want to say it was called Wanderer? I don't even know what it was about. I kept waiting for something to happen. Nothing ever did.

A couple of Stephen King books bored me. He gets too descriptive.

usually if I can't dive into a book I dont read it.

Thanks Kat!

Ooh another one I just remembered that I didn't finish. Tried to read it a few months ago.
A Discovery of Witches, Deborah E. Harkness

Started out pretty good, kept me interested then went downhill pretty fast.

I'm sorry, but I don't like twilight. I started the first one, and nearly fell asleep. For some reason it depresses me, and I am a christian and find this bad. My mother was not happy when she heard I was going to read this book. It talks about vampires, and the fact that bella wants to be bitten, which would damn her, is affending to the church and I am against it.

I agree. Not my fav by her.

I also wasn't a huge fan of Twilight. I read all of them and I just wanted to punch Bella in the face lol. She seemed so desperate! I know, I know...it's a teenage love thing, but I wasn't THAT desperate back then!

Tatiana De Rosnay's The House I Loved was awful. I think i recommended it someone on this board, or maybe it was another board, and I'm sorry!

She just drags on and on about the SAME thing. I finally just skipped ahead to the end - very last page - to see how it all played out. The ending was terrible as well!

We Need To Talk About Kevin.

Damn that dragged on and on and on. I'd already figured out the ending by the end of the first chapter. I forced my way through it.
