Separate 2 board to 2a, 2b, and 2c boards?
Greetings...
I would first like to say I'm thankful for the NC forum existing. There is some great info here and it has been great reading as I've been trying to figure out my new "wavy" self.
My problem -- I'm a 2A, and have found it very difficult surfing through the boards to find other 2A-specific info. The 3's and 4's get their own separate A-B-C boards, and I'm wondering why the 2's are all lumped together? Those who are naturally 2B and 2C certainly don't have the same issues as the 2A'ers who generally have very weak waves and likely need different products.
Is there any way that the 2 board can be split to 2A, 2B, and 2C?
Thanks!!

I think there would be less activity on the individual boards, especially since several of us had previously asked about combining all of the 3s together and all of the 4s together.

I agree. I wish the 3 boards were combined.
Siri types my posts for me.

I think many of us agree with combining the "type" boards. There are too many individual boards and many don't get a lot of "action" because of that. The 2 board has only become "viable" in the last few years because a few of the wavies made a concerted effort to do that.

Aw, I love the combined 2s board. I feel like it made a nice little extremely active community, and separating the boards would break that up and lead to a lot of inactivity in each board, much like how the 3a/3b/3c boards are slow.

I would agree with that, i think splitting it up would lead to less activity on each of the individual 2 boards. I prefer it the way it is.

I appreciate other's views and I don't necessarily want to 'disrupt' the community in any way. I could see that those with stronger curl patterns might share some commonality in what they use (example 3's), but those of us with very weak waves...we are a different breed. It takes different 'stuff' to get the effects that we do. I've tried many things countless times in the past...it's taken 20 years to finally figure out how to get wavies that would not fall flat after drying my hair and not be a big gluey blob. Maybe even a board for 'weaker wavies' or something might be useful. While I find some of the information that other 2's might be somewhat useful in some format or another...finding commonality among those more similar to my specific issues would be priceless.
If it's not meant to be, I'm cool with that, I'll still read and dig. Thanks Gretchen for giving us a place to be...and thanks for your consideration on this.

I started on nc.com as a winter wavy/summer barely 3a with what was always referred to by stylists as a "fragile" curl. When I first joined, I read every post in every thread in every hair forum--and continued to do that for several months. Have to say that I initially learned the most from the 4a forum. Now, it's mostly the General Forum. Unless a topic looks especially interesting, I don't read the "type" forums anywhere near as much.
As you learn more, you'll find that it's hair properties that really help you determine the ingredient/products your hair might like. Technique also plays a big part in achieving your curl/wave potential.
Personally, I think there's a lot to learn from people who have a lot of experience in handling "textured" hair.

I have to second what kathymack said. Hair properties make much more of a difference in product choice than curl or wave pattern. For example, Kimmidawn and I are hair twins, despite our very different curl patterns. We almost always have the exact same results with products because our hair properties are the same- to the point that if she likes something it's almost a guarantee that I'll have great results also. I think if you continue to dig you will find a ton of helpful information from people with all kinds of curl patterns.

Glad I checked this topic again agree with Corrina and kathymack in the fact that hair properties make the biggest difference in the world. Corrina and I actually connected over a random post on here (I think it was something like how we both had "agreeable hair"), and when we compared notes on our hair properties and our successes/failures, we realized we essentially had the same hair in how it would react to products and what would give us similar results (more clumps, more curls, etc). However, just from going on curl pattern, I'm relatively "far away" from Corrina (me being 2b, her being 3a).

Sounds like maybe we'll leave it as is.
I did want to mention that NC has added some additional Texture Typing info.

Gretchen, as long has it's come up, again, any thought on combining the 3 and 4 boards--one for each??

I think combining the 3s and 4s would be good. I think NC as a whole has too many boards and we should actually do away with some altogether.

I'll ask the team what they think about combining the 3s and the 4s.
