No, there are no ads but I can't imagine how this is useful to anyone. But even if it is, the problem with it is that it loads while we are reading or trying to reply so the page leaps around.

The CurlyGurus postings look like spam to me. At first, I was just waiting for it to be banned but then I figured it was some sort of tricky advertising.

They annoy me to no end and I would never ever click on the links.

It would be one thing if the ads weren't constantly refreshing the page and making the site 1) painfully slow and annoying, also removing all functionality like "back" from browsers with the constant refresh and loading new pages because of the ads and 2) crash computers regularly. But this is the only site with this problem, and it's unprofessional enough that I wouldn't even consider buying products through the site because I wouldn't trust its security.

I'm positive I'm not the only one who feels that way. I don't try to find/read articles or anything else for the same reason.

I regularly disappear and know many others do as well because of the combination of site which runs horribly due to ads and inconsistent moderation. (Apparently posts are being poofed without indication again... it made me go away before, and is about to do the same again. Particularly when coupled with the "don't talk about moderation" reign of terror from unnammed Number Mod.)

At this point I don't think any of them care about the usability of this site. It has become so trashy with the trendy topics we complained about.

With no one bothering to respond to us or acknowledge it and moderation becoming worse and worse, I have to believe you are correct.

I'm disgusted because so many of us have been here on years and developed a sense of community, and it is now worthless because the site "went corporate" and took that to mean unuseable and unwelcoming with unfair, biased moderation which gave no explanations for anything.

It just seems worse every day. Now I can't "like" things most of the time (I get an error message) and at least once a day NC totally freezes up my laptop and I have to restart. It's getting quite irritating.

just letting you know that I see this thread and I've called a meeting TODAY to discuss all of this. What I'm supposed to do as Community Manager is communicate all this info to the appropriate people, as I am not on the ad team, the tech team, etc. I do not know what is possible, and what is not at this point. I will keep you all posted, probably via an Announcement on CT just because there are many of these convos going on and I want to kind of reign all this feedback into one, neat place.

As far as Curly Gurus, I know you can click "hide" and you will not see them again. But I am suggesting that the gurus gotta go altogether.

Thanks for your feedback! There are thousands of CurlTalkers and conversations going on and 3 admins/moderators. Organized communication takes some time, but never hesitate to directly message me. Several people have done that already, just to alert me that a thread is poppin' lol
