New Posts "button"
First let me say thank you guys, I don't know what I would do without nc.com.
The last few days, the "new posts" have been odd. Always showing 500 and inaccurate remarks about unread posts, etc. I thought I'd give it a few days to right itself, but it hasn't. TIA

I've had the same issue myself (I think). Usually the board shows everything read once I'm off of it for a while but now it's showing me everything unread unless I actually mark all forums read.

Definitely something weird going on. So many threads that I'ved subscribed to keep showing up as unread, and then others that I just posted to don't show up as new. Something is awry with the forum software.

Yep.
I hadn't been here in over a week (I think... not positive) so really had over 500 threads with new posts. However, posts I already read are showing up as unread within those threads.

Wow, this is a new one.
Every thread I've posted in disappears from the "new posts" list after I post in it. I'm seeing threads with older last posts, too. But if I posted in it, the thread becomes invisible to me.

Sigh. We changed to a new way of marking threads, in response to your concerns, and I guess it's not working how we want it to.
I'll try a different setting.

Thanks, the old way was much better. This is very difficult.

Yes me too! Every thread I've started recently doesn't show up in New Posts. I just thought I was boring people.

When I click "new posts" it shows 20 pages of threads. I had been enjoying that button because it meant I could surf this site from my phone. But now I can't, because I'm not going to attempt to find out which page the start of the posts since last visit starts on.... Any way to get it back to only showing threads since last visit again?

Hi everyone, I have experienced the same problem with 500 new posts. What I have been doing, don't know if this is correct way to handle the problem but after I have read the new posts before I get off the forum I do quick links and "mark forums read". I found getting the 500 was overwhelming and took the fun out of the forum as I did not have enough time to read everything. Just a suggestion.

OK, I changed it to another method of marking. Let me know if it's any better.

I think it's definitely better. I am able to see my subscribed threads.

LOL, me, too! I started a separate thread about this since I hadn't come across this one, but since it didn't show up in new posts, it hasn't hadn't any responses - OR I am boring people as you say!

Mine's back to the old way!!! No more 500 posts. Thanks for fixing it. It's so much better like this.

Definitely better so far! I haven't been here for a few days since I haven't been able to sit in front of a computer... now I know I can check in on the phone if I want!

So now the new posts button is working....
But read/unread indication is not. Also not working is the little button to take you to the last unread post. It's marking about 1/2 the new threads as read (yet correctly knows they're new since my last visit!) and won't give me the option of being taken to last unread post. But when I open the thread, posts are correctly marked inside the thread.
Sorry, I'm not sure if that was clear.... It seemed to be working yesterday, I think, so if there were changes last night they broke it...
