Lol! Yeah, the video I watched on CHS's site shows them putting all the hair in it, and wondered if all of you were doing that.
I did try it today with some jaw clips I had on hand, and had decent results! I think next time will be better even, because hopefully I won't be as rushed as I was today.

I push up about 2 inches of hair at the roots & clip for ~ 20 minutes. The CHS roller jaw clips work the best - the duckbill clips were ok but didn't give me the same lift, and were a royal PITA to remove.

Can one of you gals post a pic of what your hair looks like with the jaw clip in? I just CAN NOT picture what you are talking about. Thanks!
I tried Youtubing it and can't find anything except a gal using tiny metal flat clips.

If you go to www.frizzoff.com, look under accessories, or tools or whatever it is, choose the roller jaw clips, and there will be a video you can watch that shows you their method. (They do more than the roots.)
Sounds like many people here just pinch the roots with them - that's what I did.
That being said, I wouldn't mind seeing some pics, either!

I clip most of my hair. The crown, the sides (I leave a few tendrils out, just a little, around my face; and to just above the nape of my neck. My hair is not as long or as full as the CHS video;so most of my hair is trailing around my shoulders, where it curls just fine on its own. I love the clips. However, Jonathan shows that he removes and re-places them; if I do that, I get frizz. Unless my hair is dry.

I shower in the mornings and leave my hair to air dry on the way to work. This morning, I put my hair in a loose ponytail on top of my head (pineapple?), spritzed it lightly with hair spray, and drove to work (about 40 minutes) that way, letting my hair down when I got to work. It looks like this technique has given my roots a little lift and promoted curl formation too! I will continue to try this to see if I get consistently good results.

So I thought I'd report that the jaw clips didnt hurt my drying time (they may actually have helped!), and I believe they helped with 2nd day hair today, too!
So simple... I feel silly for not having tried this sooner! Lol!
I still use the flat clips up by my hair line sometimes, and for making pin curl or two where a curl has gone flat, but other than that I think I may be a convert! Will have to go pick up some more clips!
I used regular bought-at-the-drugstore jaw clips (sm-med sized). They worked pretty well, so I'm not sure if I'll get more of those or try roller clips - anyone know of any at Sally's that are good? I know the CHS ones are good, but we have a Sally's not far from here, and I need a couple other things!

I will try - maybe tomorrow? May not be until Friday, tho. Depends on how the day goes.
I just put mine at the roots.

Ok. Great. So do you use the claw kind of like a kickstand? To prop the hair up ? or do you grab to curl inside of the claw?

When I use the metal clips, I've tried the kick stand thing. For me it didn't go as well. I ended up putting the clip's side flat against my scalp, so the hair was lifted straight up from there. It worked, and if I twisted the clump a little at the top it would create better root curl as well as the lift.
With the jaw clips, at least for me (and remember I'm brand new to them), I used them to just sort of "scrunch" the roots, I'd guess you could say. I won't have time today, but if possible tomorrow I'll take a pick and post it.
Again, tho, this will be my 2nd time using them, so I'm certainly not an authority! Others here would be way more helpful, I'm sure!

I use the big jaw clips at the top , crown canopy, whatever.
I use the medium ones on the sides.
Remember the clips are to let the hair dry without being pulled down by its own weight, not to set the hair.
Conair clips are almost the same as CHS but cheap and available.
I mostly use goody or Scunci cause that's what I have around.
My hair is pretty short and not at all well shaped for CG but I have a trim in mind, hopefully soon.

Thanks for you gal's help! I am just at the end of my rope with this CG thing! I am trying to find anything I can to make me stick with this.

Are you trying full CG? Or mod? Full did not work for me, and doesn't for a lot of people. When I started going mod CG things got a lot better, fast!
The hunt for the right products is a PITA, too. I discovered that the technique is even more important. And you could use all the right products and not even know it because the technique is off.
Believe me, we've all had times where we've felt like you do right now!!
I'll try to post a pic this afternoon, once my boys are napping. (It's actually a day off for me today!!!)

So I ordered roller jaw clamps from CHS and I LOVE them! I had been using regular octopus clamps but found that my curls would wind themselves around the handles and make it VERY hard to remove them without catching in my hair and causing frizz. These from CHS are working so much better for me. They come right out without catching. Here are the clamps in my hair:
And out:

Fabulous!!! So are they just at your roots? Or did you pile a whole section?

I thought of piling whole sections, but decided to just do the roots. I diffuser dried about 80% dry or so and then placed the clamps around my canopy. HTH.

I am doing full CG! What about your routine makes it mod?
Thanks for the pics! That's not at all what I'd pictured. So those clamps don't give you weird bent or crimped looking curls?
