Sigh, curl cremes...

After doing some bottle reading, I realized that my Noodle Head Curling Creme isn't CG. It contains TWO 'cones, Dimethicone and Dimethiconol.

This week I'm going to go out product-hunting, for one: random styling products and now, two: a curl creme. Are there any curl cremes found at Wal-mart or Sally's that contain no 'cones? If you have used them before, what are your results?

2b/2c, pretty porous and slightly elastic.
garnier fructis s&s, hesmu, and biotera curl creme.

I believe that Bioterra Curl Cream at Sally's is CG. I haven't personally tried it, but I have read that several curlies here use and like it
- 2C - Coarse Canopy & med/fine underlayers
- MOP C Hydrating 'poo
- LOreal Natures Therapy Moisturizing condish, ION Effective Care, Garnier S&S (old formula)
- treatments: CJ Curl Rehab, CJ Repair Me!
- plopping, diffusing, and clipping the roots
I just bought Biotera Curl Creme today because of all the great reviews on the boards and I'm so excited to try it! I looked at the ingredients and its CG friendly.
It's rather inexpensive too, which is nice!
CG since 02/10
Fine, thick, 3a/2c mix, medium porosity
Co-wash: Suave Naturals Coconut
Condish/LI: Suave Naturals Coconut, GFTN
Stylers:
HESMU, LOOB, BRHG, FSG

Like: protein, protein, protein!!
Dislike: mineral oil, eco-styler,

I mix mousse and conditioner together to create my own cream.
And again....here I am the product junkie....already found the Biotera Curl Creme and ready to buy.
I really need help.

That conditioner/mousse mix sounds interesting, I gotta try it!!

I'm just now playing around with curl creme, and got the Biotera curl creme last week. The first time I used it (over the Biotera gel) was okay, nothing super special. I had a pretty good amount of frizz by the end of the day.

Today I switched things up, just to see what would happen. I used the Biotera glaze (not the gel) first...I separated my hair into 3 sections, then raked and combed it through. I made sure my hair was coated root to ends.

Then I raked/combed through the Biotera curl creme, again with my hair sectioned. When I was all done, I put a little bit of BRHG in my palm, rubbed my hands together, flipped my head over and really scrunched my hair well.

This has really been a GOOD hair day for me! It's 10 pm now and my hair still looks much curlier than usual, hardly any frizz at all, and lots of volume. I think I may be re-thinking the notion that my curl creme had to come first, before the glaze.

Funny thing is, I only got the glaze because it was a buy 2, get 1 free sale at Sally's...lol! I was only planning to buy the Biotera curl creme and gel originally.

Does it have to be a cream, or just not a gel?

WW - very interesting! I've never thought of putting the Biotera curl creme over the glaze - I'm gonna have to try that. I scrunch in soaking wet hair: LI, mousse, curl creme, then gel or glaze. I really prefer to emulsify the curl creme with the gel in my hands before scrunching in. It does well with HESMU gel, but doesn't emulsify with LA Looks gel or KMF Uppermanagement gel.

Sometimes when I take out my pineapple in the morning I have some frizz in the canopy. I put just a tiny bit of curl creme in my hands and mix in a little water, gently smooth it over the canopy and it really helps!

earlybirdiecurls - I love Sally's return policy! You can buy the Biotera curl creme and try it out...if you don't like it you can return it - yay!!!!

I used to love the Biotera curl cream. It worked for awhile and then for whatever reason, it just didn't work well. I think maybe the dewpoint played a role in it. Since I don't like monitoring dewpoints, I abandoned it.
I used to have NoodleHead curl cream back in the day...and I loved it. I think they reformulated. It had cones, but I thought it was phenyl trimethicone and dimethiconol. I don't remember dimethicone being in it.
But whatever...that was awhile back. If you are going to be strictly CG, then it's a no-go. If you think you'll sometimes want to experiment, then I say keep it.

If you don't mind water-soluble cones, there's always L'Oreal Out of Bed texturizer. It's not marketed as a curl cream, but it's used as such. Some people had issues with it drying out their hair; others didn't. So, it could be part of a rotation, but I wouldn't use it everyday. I used to use that too. I didn't have any problems with it.

If you don't mind salon prices, at ULTA, you can get MOP C curl cream. I like it. I think dewpoint issues can arise from this as well. I think it works better in lower dewpoints, if I recall.
That's right, I said it! I wear scrunchies!!

I am a sulfate washing, cone slabbing, curly lovin' s.o.b. The CG police haven't caught me yet.
