Default Deva or Ouidad?

I have two friends who are CG. One is like a 2b/c, and the other has very curly hair, 3b/4c. The 2 friend swears by Deva. The 3/4 friend swears by Ouidad, and frequently tells me that Deva just adds build-up. I've been witness to multiple heated debates between the two, and have decided to ask you fine people.

So, which is better? Deva or Ouidad?

Hmm.....I have only had a Ouidad cut, so can't really say, but their philosophy's are very different. Not sure about cut wise, but I tend to like Deva more because her concepts make more sense to me than what Ouidad does. And afterall, she invented the CG method. Gotta love her for that! But all in all, I think it is just preference.

I'm particular to Deva. I've recently revisited the line after having a deva cut and I'm very happy so far. I believe I was using the line incorrectly, which is why I didn't like it the first time. I was tempted to buy Ouidad a few weeks ago because Sephora had a kit with full size products on sale. I didn't Purchase it because I hated the smell.

I voted for the last selection. Deva was the first line I tried. IMHO, there are a lot of better products available, especially since they changed their ingredients. My salon has Deva available. I no longer let them use the NoPoo, it left my hair really dry the last two times I let them use it. I used to bring my own lowpoo, now I bring CJ Daily Fix--it makes us all happy. Tried very few Quidad products, the three I tried didn't make me want to use any more.

There are tons of fabulous products available--especially if you're willing to buy products at those price points.

I also voted for the last selection. I like Lorraine Massey's (Deva) philosophy to curly hair. She doesn't seem to have a good hair/bad hair approach. All hair that isn't straight should be appreciated for its unique beauty. Curly Girl also changed my life. Conditioner washing doesn't work for me, but that book made me realize that I wasn't alone. It helped to regain the hair that I loved and missed. I was truly going through a hair disaster for a decade.

I don't like Deva products, and I don't care for the big hair look that Lorraine seems to like. I also don't have a problem with others who alter their natural texture.

I have had a Ouidad hair cut, which works best for my coarse, thick hair. Although I've never had a Deva cut so I can't speak on that. I don't use the Ouidad products, and I think they have too many chemicals that aren't natural for me to use, as well as the price. I do like that Ouidad understands that not all of those with curly hair have fine hair.

+1. Ouidad sucks and nothing they have does anything. Deva has a decent cleansing/great conditioning line but their styling agents suck.

There's better out there.

I'm a Deva fan- love the OneC and No Poo, but the stylers don't work that well for me. I've never tried Ouidad products- I'm CG and I'm under the impression that many/ most of the products aren't CG friendly (I don't know how accurate that is, though). At any rate, as others have said, there are tons of lines out there, there's no need to restrict yourself to these two.
