Recommendation for a CG safe shampoo(drugstore)
In the past few days I have noticed that my scalp has been really itchy and it seems like I have some product buildup. I think I might need might have to shampoo at least once a week. Any recommendations for a CG friendly shampoo that I can buy at a drugstore or Target or Walmart? Thanks!

A lot of people like the Giovanni 50:50. Kiss my Face makes one as well. Both can be had at a drugstore. What products are you using now? Maybe we can identify the culprit.

Organix isnt sulfate free. It has a cousin of SLS in it- Sulfosuccinate, not as stong, but still a sulfate. So does the Loreal "sulfate free" line.
+1 on the Giovanni line, Kiss my face. Also Burt's bees and Elasta QP Conditioning Shampoo are sulfate free. Elasta can be found @ Sally's if you have one close by.

I use Suave as a cowash and Sally's GVP conditioning balm as conditioner. Giovanni as my leave in and as a gel I usually put in either HETT gel with ecostyler or LA looks gel.
I think I might not be cowashing right. To me when I put the cowash in I don't feel like I have anything on (I guess because of the lack of lather). I try to massage my scalp but I don't know if Im doing it right.
I was in Whole Foods yesterday and was going to buy the Giovanni shampoo because it was on sale-4.99 but I decided not too! Maybe I'll go back.

Most wavies can't go without shampooing their hair. I try to stay cg but once a week I shampoo with a low sulfate shampoo since no poos are so hard to come by at a reasonable price.

Organix isn't sulfate free, but the sulfate in there is less strong, and therefore the product doesn't rely only on the coco betaine to cleanse. In my experience, shampoos with low sulfates/sulfate derivatives are less harsh than coco betaine-only ones. In fact, the gentlest shampoo I've ever used had a combination of three surfactants, one of which was SLS, one of which was a sulfate derivative, and the other coco betaine. Likewise, the worst my hair has ever felt was after using a supposed 'lo poo' which just had coco betaine. I know everyone else has different results, but I feel like it's amounts of ingredient rather than ingredients themselves that cause problems for people. IMHO, anyway.

Hmmm...the products seem okay
Which Suave? Some feel like they "lather" more than others, even though I know they don't. I use a lot (it's cheap, right?), and while I'm scrubbing I add some water to the mix. It almost feels like a lather. Sometimes if I want to feel extra clean I use some lemon juice with the cowash. Then make sure to rinse it out 100%. It's full of dirt after the wash, so it all has to come out to be clean. HTH
