Style Advice for Moms

Hi, I'm new to the website. Found out about it through Sunday's Times Magazine. Anyway, I have naturally 3A-3B hair with some 2 strands. I have been straightening off and on for the last 15 years. As I now have a 2.5 year old and a baby on the way, I have limited time to style my hair. Blowing out and keeping smooth seems like a huge waste of time. Does anyone have any style tips/advice on keeping my hair styled that looks good for a mom on the go? I'm tired of my standby: ponytails! TIA!
Hey NYC mom. I'd suggest you look into the Curly Girl (CG) method. Most of the people here use it. It has made a huge difference in my hair. This is the before and after picture thread:
Post your before & After CG pics
And this blog post explains the method.

This should be a good way to go for a mom, since the best way to style with this method is to air dry.
This is the right place to learn how to get your curls looking fabulous. People here are really helpful.
Good Luck!

Hi there. I'm a mom too! 4,3, and 1 year olds. Hair gel is my friend lol. I think you should look into CG too but I still use shampoo (just one without sulfates) anyway read up on the information listed it's a good start.
I can relate! 4 yr old and 2 yr old here. What I love - headbands. I follow the curly girl method, and when I shower, I just follow up with a leave-in conditioner, curl creme and gel, wrap my hair up in a towel while I finish getting dressed, and then put a hair band in it and let it air dry. It takes me literally 5 mins to do my hair and I get compliments on it all the time.

Pics are in my fotki below.

CG since 2/07 and loving it!
I have 3 kids (ages 9, 7, and 5) so I know how they cut into your "hair time!"

I follow the CG method and to style my hair I use leave-in conditioner and gel, then just "plop" it in a microfiber towel for 10 minutes while I'm getting dressed, then let it air dry.

It did take some trial and error at first to find out what products & techniques my hair likes, but I eventually found quick & cheap ways to make it look good w/out much fuss.

MUCH easier than 30 minutes with the blowdryer.
2a/b right now; 2c when it's longer

Current favorites:
