Coarse hair with high porosity, what can I use?

I cant seem to find store products that can be used on my hair. I went for AO but it seems to have protein and after a couple of use my hair hated it; same with Deva Curl ( glycerin) I don't what else to use on my hair. I've been CG for more than a year ( I'm one of those lurkers) and getting good clumps or nice curls seems like a luxury. Should I go for a homemade conditioner, cream? Learn to make it myself? What can I use?? please I need help with my hair
I can relate to how difficult it is to find the right products! I'm not sure what to recommend. What exactly is bothering you most about your hair? Is it that you aren't getting good clumps? Frizz? What kind of curls do you have? Are you wavy, very curly, ringlets?

The best and most honest advice I can give is unfortunately, you just have to experiment to find the best products for you. You can try to find a "hair twin" on the boards - someone whose hair seems like yours and see what that person uses. Often they put their products in their signature line.

Another way to experiment is to pm Kathymack and look at what she has available for samples. She has lots of different small samples which she sells inexpensively. That way you can try 3 or 4 (or more) of some of the very popular products. That worked out well for me. Also look in the category of which type hair you think you have (like 2a or 4b for example). Check out the sub-board and see what they are using.

I hope you get some good answers soon! Let us know.
2/c and some 3A. Modified CG.
Protein sensitive
Highly porous. Color over grey.
Best 1st day method: Super Soaker
Conditioners: Curl Junkie Beauticurls Strengthening Conditioner,
Deep condish: Curl Junkie Curl Rehab
Stylers: Mix Curls in a Bottle into everything for shine. Terrible pj
Sometimes try roller sets - classic glamor but I prefer my curls.
Every day is a gift

and the products at this etsy site are protein free, glycerin free and highly moisturizing.

Also the deeply decadent conditioner and curling jelly from this etsy store are one of my favorites

plus most Curl Junkie.

That would probably be a pretty good start.

Which AUbrey did you try? If you didn't like the Honeysuckle Rose, the White Camellia may work better for you.

I do quite well (very, very well) with Kinky Curly Knot Today and Curl Junkie Curl Rehab.
Kiva! Microfinance works.

Med/Coarse, porous curly.
I have extremely coarse, porous hair and have a hard time finding protein free products. My two favorite conditioners are Biolage Conditioning Balm, and AOHR.

I use KCKT and KCCC, and LOVE them both. I tried AG:Recoil and Pink Boots with less than satisfactory results. Both were too drying.
