Who/which side of the family did you inherit your curly hair from?

I got mine from my mom's side. She has really curly hair.

My dad's side for sure. He had curly hair.
My mom has very straight hair, coarse and determined to be straight (she is part native american and I think that is how her hair is so straight).

My kids (dad is straight-haired) have:
1.Curly
2.Wavy
3.Very Straight
4.Wavy
2c / C / iii (FIA)
Med-Coarse, LowPorosity, NormalElast (LCLF)

Shoulder-Length now.

Wash: DevaCare Low Poo
Detangle & Rinseout: Walgreens or Sally's Conditioning Balm (always)
Leave-in: DevaCare OneC (budget choice is GFTN)
Style: ReCoil & DevaCare Arc Angel (budget choices are HESMU or Got2BSpikedUp)

Henna!
I think mainly my dad. Apparently he used to have long blonde curly hair (haha) but now its almost all gone.
My mum has thick wavy hair. So I think probably a bit of both.

Last straighten:
27th Febuary 2010
Curly Since: 18th March 2010 (second time around)
Trying CG (properly) soon. Last year's attempt failed, provoking straightening.
I love Ballet! <3
It must come from my mom's side as no one on my dad's side has curls.

I believe my mom said her sister has curls but from what I can tell -- she and I are the only ones.

I probably got my waves from my Dad. Hard to imagine now that his hair is mostly gone, but I've seen pictures of him in college with thick waves.

My mom would love to be able to curl her hair, but it's stick straight and won't take a curl.
Don't know! I'm the only one in my family with any kind of texture AT ALL!

I got my waves from my Mom. My dad's side has some waves (he was stick straight though) so I guess it could have come from both...
FIA: 2b/cFii
normal porosity
Mainly my mother's side I think. My dad had all brothers so they all had short hair but there were some cowlicks and mild waves maybe. Hard to tell. On mom's side I have noticed hormonal changes play a role. Mom had a couple brothers whose hair got really curly as teenagers. As a child my hair was pretty straight. During teenage years my hair began to get wavy. Perimenopausal changes coupled with CG are causing my hair to become more curly.

2c/3a in back/3a in front (changing with length, CG routine, and dew points)
Medium texture. Lots of gray that I color.
Started CG Feb 2010
Hair loves: Lots of moisture, FSG, co-washing, coconut oil, and occasional protein.
From my dad's side, he was a curly but now balding, and from my mom's side is sligthly wavy. And now my DD has like a combo of wavy and curly hair, i hope she doesnt lose her curls.
Very high dews (70F or more) and lots of humidity (above 80%)
3a/3b mostly, normal porosity, medium texture (I think)

Sometimes I use: TRESemme flawless curls shampoo
Co-wash: Suave Green Apple
Conditioner: Garnier Fructis Oil Repair
Styling: Flaxseed gel, shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie

Still experimenting...

I got my curly hair from my father's side - via my grandfather. My dad has wavy hair that he used to iron as a teenager, but my grandfather had tight 3a/b curls... "Brady Bunch" curls I used to call them.

My dad. When he was younger, he had long loose curls... According to my mom he made a lot of girls jealous !!!
I got my curly hair from my mom. I got my very coarse, thick hair from my father.
CG since June/09
3a/b extremely thick, coarse, porous
Loving AOHR, Biolage Conditioning Balm, KCCC.
My dad is thick and wavy and my mom is fluffy curly. My moms family is all fluffy haired and my dad's sister has course waves. So I'll say my mom, due to the crazy amount of fluff I'm experiencing lately.
From my dad's side -- he had 100% Italian dark brown curls, lol.

My mom isn't Italian and I always thought she pretty much had straight hair, but she just got back from Florida this week and...lo and behold, she walked in my door with cute waves in her hair! She said it just curled up down in Florida (we live in IL) so she left it that way. So I guess she must have wavy hair after all.

My kids both have curly hair -- their dad (my ex) has hair just as curly as me. My son (19) keeps his hair shorter now so you can't see the curl as much, but my 15 y.o. daughter has long, gorgeous curls.

I married a non curly haired guy and we have 4 boy's, my oldest has waves if he lets his hair grow longer, son #2 has a bit of waves, son 3 has straight hair like his daddy and my youngest, he got my curls!

My dad.
He didn't have curly hair until age 21. Then he had a big blond afro. His hair went from fairly straight to kinky curly.

My hair didn't get curly until 12yo. Prior to that, I had some slight wave but nothing really.

My sister's hair has always been curly. My mom used to cut all her ringlets off instead of learning how to deal with her hair. And she brushed it out with those wire brushes from the 80s.

I have 2 children. My son has stick straight hair and my daughter was born with curl. She's a 3A and her hair gets curlier as it gets longer.
She's very much a tomboy but her hair is the one thing that she's always loved. She's almost 13 and fully believes that curl is beautiful and there's no need to straighten. Her self-esteem is amazing. I just hope it stays that way.
My dad is a 3b and curly hair runs in the family. My mom is a wavy maybe 2b. I get my curls from both sides of the family.
