Inconsistant Curl Shape/Direction
Okay, I just have to ask, because I find this to be the most INFURIATING thing ever to happen with my hair. It is really worse than being a huge frizzy pouf for me. I have a couple pictures below of just random hairs pulled out that show what I am talking about. I just have to know if it is because of heat damage, or if this could actually possibly be my gross ugly hair type .
The pictures were after a whole day of work too, so actually I am pretty impressed with the frizz factor, and that they are still basically holding their own with just simple FSG. I don't even mind that part, if only the curls would go on their merry way throughout each strand without getting lost or something.
Pre-CG I used to straighten my hair only during the winter months, so that could be why it is only every couple inches that it curls fine, and then randomly stops. However, it has been about a month and a half of being CG and my last straightening (mid-Feb). So I am wondering why it hasn't figured out how to curl properly yet...
Please, please, pleaseeee just tell me that it will grow out to be normally shaped curls that don't change direction. (Even if it's a lie!)
Thanks,

I'm pretty sure this happens to most curlies.

I get "twisted slinky curls" all the time. I've been CG for 2 years and it still happens all the time. IDK I just try to make peace with it. I try to tuck them under other pieces or twist problem spots when wet.

Okay. Thanks guys. I guess I will either have to wait to grow out (it just gives hope for now lol) and if it's still that way after, then learn to deal. It just bugs me out that it starts out as wave, then turns to curl, and then back to wave again in the same one strand.
Maybe it's just my obsessive compulsiveness or something. I want evenly spread out and spaced curls!!!! I don't care which one of waves or curls, but if it would be consistent, it would make me a lot happier. Grrr.

I think it's just the nature of the beast too, those curls in your pics look just like mine. I find it very frustrating, I wouldn't care what kind of curls I had if only they were more consistent.
Methinks it's never gonna happen.

this happens to me, too. Every single curl starts out straight, goes to wavy, and then curls at the ends. I cut it very short thinking that my hair was damaged, but so far it is growing out exactly the same way... i think that's just the curl pattern.

Mine is like that too, and my hair is even curlier than yours. I have waves from the root to about halfway down the length, then it coils up at the tips. That's just how curly hair is. Nothing to be alarmed about.

You can add me to the list too.
Curly hair just have a mind of its own and we have to learn to work with it.

ditto to everything said. It has to be the curl pattern...

My hair curls exactly the same way. naturally curly hair isn't uniform. Only hair curled with a curling iron or a perm is. There is nothing "ugly" or "gross" about it. Your hair is beautiful!
As for time, you haven't been CG very long, and damage doesn't heal. It can only be cut off. I just cut 8 inches off my hair a few weeks ago and it curls better now. It also curls tighter.
I do have to say that your hair doesn't look 2c/3a in those pictures. It looks more like 3b.

Thanks guys. At least it isn't weird or anything, even if it is a natural pattern. I just don't like the way it is wider curls, and then kinks funky turn, and then wide again. But oh well, I'll get over it eventually if it is the natural shape. I would rather it be natural than uniform.
Nallia - In regards to the curl type, usually it's wavy with some curl. But these pictures have been since discovering SSM, all of a sudden there are more 3b's and ringlets mixed in . They only show up some of the time, when I add water after raking in FSG. I dunno, I don't really know about the types on this site cause it's confusing. In the CG book, the way I understood it, Lorraine says type 3 is 5" shrinkage, and I only have 4" so that's why I thought it was inbetween. But I read that the properties are more important anyways?
