how to reverse damage without cutting hair?

soo i flat ironed my hair for the first time in 3 months, and wore it straight for a week. afterwards i clarified it with a sulfate shampoo and went back to using my normal cg routine but my hair isnt responding well! its all limp and dry with a very weak curl pattern that just keeps getting worse! HELPPP!

Did you do a DT and PT?
Location: West Virginia (Eastern Panhandle)
2b/cMii, medium-high porosity

Likes protein and most oils, HATES mineral oil
Summer Routine
Poo: Tresemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture
Cowash CJ Daily Fix
Rinse out: Tresemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture
Leave In: Tresemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture, SSRPT
Stylers: Ecostyler Krystal, LALSG (in really high dews)
PT: SS Repairing Protein Treatment
1. Do a good protein deep treatment and cover hair with processing cap or shower cap (with some warmth/heat, such as a bonnet dryer, hard hat dryer, or aiming a hand held dryer at it). Keep it warm and covered for 20 mins at least.

2. Follow with a moisture deep treatment with a good, rich conditioner, also with a cap and warmth if possible. Also for a long time (I recommend 20 to 30 or sleep overnight).

Then just follow a care regimen of CG methodology while doing a deep condish treatment each time you wash. If you have fine hair or your hair enjoys protein, add a bit of protein condish to your leave in. Otherwise, just a good deep condish is fine.

If you can tolerate, try sleeping with coconut oil on your hair (protect your pillow) and then do a CG nopoo in the am and style as usual. I find coconut oil very soothing to hair and it protects the protein in hair if used for 13+ hours of saturation.

THe flat iron may have done some serious cuticle damage (it can explode the hair, boiling moisture in it), but gentle care will help, though the damage is done.

Just let condish be your pal.

Use a curl enhancing gel/jelly/gellie as part of your styling regimen to encourage curl. SS CEJ, Curls in a Bottle, stuff like that. Avoid drying alcohol-containing products, like some hard hold gels and mousses, for a while.

Thanks! I Dt'd before I washed it with coconut milk and olive oil. I think its time for me to throw that flat iron away, it just sits there and tempts me

I always do a protein treatment after straightening my hair. It helps. I try not use a lot of heat and I use silicone serum as a heat protectant. I know my hair is not going to be bouncy and behavin' like a natural straightie anyway so my goal is a stretched out look.
