Question Help with HUGE hair...

Hi guys!

When I leave my hair down, I find that by mid-day my hair is very big. It's not exactly poofy, just big. I would like it to be about half the volume! I have had it thinned a few times but it I didn't see a big difference in the volume of my hair. Should I just get it thinned more? Anyone have tips or experience?

My hair is the same way... I'm still trying to figure out better ways to tame my volume, but I do know that thinning does not really help (I've tried it tons of times!). It ends up making the volume look uneven when it grows back in, and I've found that having the weight of the hair helps it lay down better with the right products. Use plenty of conditioner and product. Make sure it coats ALL of your hair. Length is your friend... the longer your hair is, the better it will lay down.

Most of the time I just end up pulling half of it back and leaving half of it down. But I'm determined to figure out a way someday to make it look good down, all day! Good luck!

I'm jealous, actually! I love big, curly hair. It's probably much cuter than you think!

Give some of your hair to me! (Sorry - couldn't help it.) I love big curly hair and I used to have your "problem". Be careful what you wish for - you might get it. My hair is thinning now.

I hope that doesn't sound snarky!!!

Anyway, I used to use Infusium 23 to help calm down my huge hair - but it isn't CG. Thinning never helped. Sometimes tying a silk scarf lightly over my head helped. There's supposed to be something about the silk that smoothes out hair. Good luck and enjoy the volume if you can - it's a sign of youth and health.

I agree, I 'fros!!

My hair if very fine and long and I have 0 volume.

Your hair must be very curly, maybe forming tight ringlets? The tighter the curls the more volume you have. Perhaps you need to grow it out for added weight.

I would say to stay away from the thinning and work with your texture. I'm awfully jealous of a curly with thick hair!!

Got a pic we can view?

Using products that tighten up curl can lessen volume. And finding a cut (not THINNING, but a good cut) can help.

HOwever, a lot of us envy you high-volume gals, as we can tend to look flattish and thin. So, that's why you should post a pic. What seems big to you might seem gloriously full to the majority of others.
