Allergies???

Hey!

My friend and I were talking about shampoos and she told me that she can only use Pantene Ice shine because every other shampoo gives her an allergic reaction. She is always complaining that she wants to try a new shampoo but is afraid to buy one because she always ends up allergic to it.
We think she is allergic to some sort of fragrance, but not sure what kinds, or if she is allergic to natural or non-natural fragrances....

Does anyone else have strange shampoo allergies?

I am allergic to most fragrance, sulfates, and propylene glycol, in hand soaps as well as shampoo. My aunt is irritated by anything that contains oats, and I also know a woman who is irritated by glycerin.

I looked up the ingredients of this shampoo, and it seems that it doesn't contain glycerin or oats or wheat. I know that 365 brand mint shampoo doesn't have those ingredients, and i'm sure you can find others.

When I think about buying something new, i rub a small amount onto the back of my hand. If my skin burns/turns red/itches/peels off, then i don't buy it.

I have allergies to a bunch of things and have always had to watch what kinds of soaps, shampoos, and detergents came in contact with my very sensitive skin, even when I was a baby my mom had to watch it. I will get head to toe hives from soap and shampoos, wherever the soapsuds touch my skin. I had Allergy testing when I was a lot younger and then again when I was 18 and I do not recall exactly what all triggered hives. My mom has the list still and I call her up a lot and read off labels to her if I think of trying something new, but for the most part I stick with Johnson's baby soap or Dove soap. I do have an allergy to Lanolin, so I have to watch what kinds of creams and ointments I use on my skin too.

Something's been making me very scalp itchy for the last week plus, but I'm not sure what and am rotating products.

I did once have a bad reaction to a Biolage poo/condish years ago. Then months later went to my hairdresser who washed me for a cut, and as I sat in the chair, I got itchier and itchier and itchier. And I said, "Hang on, did you use Biolage on me?" She said, yeah, she was trying new products (I was used to her using different poos/condishes).

She had to rewash me, rinse me a while with cold water, and wipe down my neck and back. I don't know what was in that that got to me, but I still get a shudder when I see a Biolage bottle.

I think because I have so many food allergies, that right now, on natural products, it's likely I'll have issues due to all those botanicals, fruit and nut oils. I may even develop new allergies as I"m exposed consistently to new food derivatives in products.

Sucks to be hyperreactive.
