First time trying CJ products

You might want to try with two variations:

Don't brush product through hair, just scrunched it into hair.

Don't add the KBB hair milk. See if the CJ products alone will be sufficiently moisturizing.

I still think I need something over the CIAB to help hold my curls.

EDIT: Also, I didn't brush the CIAB through and I still got decent definition/clumps.

Slowly but surely I feel like I'm zeroing in on the perfect combo/routine. Thanks everyone for all your suggestions so far! I don't know what I would do without this community!

Then again, my hair is thicker and curlier than yours so I require more product. It's about the same length though. First I smooth CIAB through my hair, finger rake it to evenly distribute, and then scrunch in the curls. I like CIAB b/c it really does seem to wash out clean. It's the first styling product I've used that doesn't build up. I'm just amazed that it held up in the Kentucky humidity last week!
3a/3b, Fine, low porosity.

I thought I would give a quick update on my adventures with the CJ products. Today I had to have great hair for a meeting I attended today. So I went back to my go to routine of KBB Hair Milk + KCCC, except this time I mixed a dime-sized amount of CJ CIAB with the KBB when I put it in. Curls came out as they typically do with just KBB Milk + KCCC but slightly shinier I think. I got a few compliments on my hair so I think it looks pretty good. I put some pics up in my flickr account. Still crummy webcam photos but I think they show the curls and shine fairly well.

LOVE the CIAB! Please Curl Junkie NEVER EVER CHANGE THIS STUFF EVER! I wanted something to smooth my frizz without leaving my hair hard or building up and I wanted some shine too and CIAB does all that. It even held up in the chilly, misty rain yesterday - I still had a little bit of frizz but my hair looked and felt wonderful overall and that was after standing out in the rain and wind waiting to pick up my daughter from school.

I am not CG and I don't want to manipulate my hair to make it curlier or straighter (I had thryoid cancer last summer and my hair changed a bit after the radiation treatments and I just gave up trying to make it something it's not - now I just want it to look healthy), I just wanted frizz control, shine and softness.

I used the Curl Assurance daily conditioner as a LI, raked through while my head was upside down then used a nickle size puddle mostly on my ends and under layers and raked that through. Flipped my head up, parted it and combed it then added one quarter size puddled to each side (to cover the sides and back - 2 quarter size puddles total). Combed that through then scrunched. Let it air dry for about 15 to 20 minutes (my normal rountine) then blowdried the under layers for about 3 minutes or so and DONE. I noticed the shine increased as my hair dried.

This morning I couldn't take a shower because someone is coming to fix our water heater, so I just re-wet my hair with my hands and smoothed a dime size amount of CIAB over my hair. Still beautiful. I am so very, very pleased with this. Seems like the bottle will last a long time too and I am so grateful I can actually afford this.
HG's: (I alternate)
DEP Sport Gel, B&A Gel, Aura Naturalle Gel
(gel from mid-length down only, all used over a leave in)

Method: Air dry 20 minutes, then blow dry for volume.

2/3 mix waves/curls - coarse, frizz prone, med. thick, porous, at-home color for gray, protein sensitive but I still need it sometimes, glycerin-sensitive (I think) in high humidity, NOT CG but like stuff w/o silicones and that rinses out clean, wash with regular S&C 2x a week.
I'm taking a break for a little bit from the CJ products. I think they might be too moisturizing for me actually. This weekend I used some combination of CIAB and one of the conditioners (I don't remember the exact routine I used) and I ended up with overconditioned hair. Yesterday I tried the KMS Cranberry Pepper gel that some people seem to like on here over the KBB hair milk (I have so much and I need to use it up before I start buying new products). The result was ok, but I think the Aveda Flax/Aloe gel works better for me.

Today I water washed and put in about a quarter sized amount of KBB hair milk mixed with a maybe a dime sized amount of the CJ CA Smoothing Conditioner. Then I raked in a nickel sized amount of the SS CEJ. I brushed this through, scrunched with a flour sack towel, and applied about a dime to nickel sized amount of SS FHG. Scrunched some more with the towel and let air dry (making sure not to touch it as it dried). The results are really nice (just a little flat on top due to the brushing). Minimal frizz, nicely defined clumpy curls. I'm liking this combo a lot. I'll have to try it again to make sure its not a fluke but I might be sold on the SS products.
