Different ingredients in FSG- how to avoid dry crunch?

I have experimented with making my own flax-seed gel, and have been getting mixed results.
Lately, it's been leaving my hair pretty frizzy and crunchy when dry, and I wonder what I might be over-using in the gel or missing!

Right now, I use:
-flax seed gel (made from boiled whole flax seeds, turns out a booger-y clear-ish consistency)- got the recipe from these threads
-aloe vera gel (pure)
-vegetable glycerin
-a tiny amount of Mag Sulfate

Anything else I should maybe be adding to create a softer look? Am I using too much glycerin perhaps? Does that leave one's hair crunchy?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Have you taken into consideration the change in weather?

I don't use FSG, only because I'm to lazy to make it. But, my first guess is the combination of aloe and glycerin. Depending on the weather where you live, and how your hair handles those two ingredients independently, they may be to blame for the frizz. I live in Oklahoma, and we've been ridiculously humid because of a lot of storms lately, so I've been careful about overloading some ingredients.

What kind of aloe are you using? I'm finding I'm having mixed results with FOTE...when I first tried it a few weeks ago at a friend's house, it seemed fine...softened hair and increased the curls, but now it is drying the heck out of my hair making it a tangled nasty rats nest with frizz. This could just be the current humidity, or maybe my batch is different than what my friend had.

this is a copied and pasted recipe from someone, so mmm EPO.. not sure what that means... hahah... oooh must mean evening primrose oil perhaps? anyways i use the other ones.. also * was for a footnote i cut out that said this was optional.. since some find it drying. I do put some in.
