Conditioner Chronicles comments thread

OK, I've been inspired to try Umberto Giannini Curl & Twirl again. The last time I used it was 6 yrs ago. I remember liking it -- esp the non-fruity/floral scent . I think I put it aside to try Devacurl...then moved to an area where it isn't easily available & forgot about it. Will report back.

Celtic Curls,

Did you try the Umberto gel? I just picked some up today at Rite Aid.l I"ll post after I try it.

Take care,
Sherry
I remember now how much Ieally liked the Umberto Curl & Twirl! Very rich & great detangling. And b'coz it has PVP in it, it really helps with curl formation, yet w/out being drying. Yay laurabeth, for reminding me of a great old favorite! Boo laurabeth, for reminding me that I don't buy this anymore b'coz no store here carries it. But the results may be worth the shipping. Too bad Ulta's shipping rates to Alaska resemble extortion.

Sherry, yes I did try the gel -- way back when I used the cond. I remember it was very liquidy and had a nice scent, but didn't do too much for me in the humidity of the NW. Still, that was 6 yrs ago, when I first came to this site, before I had adopted things like leave-ins & applying gel to super wet hair. So I may give it another try.

I know this was mentioned in an earlier post, but I just want to make sure that the B2B Moisturizing Pomegranate conditioner that was reviewed is the same condish that is also referred to in other threads as the B2b Peach/Pomegranate conditioner?? Before I go out and look for it that is, since I don't want to get it if it's not the same or if it really isn't as good since it's been reformulated, etc.

lush she reviewed the new formula. Two on that REview forum thread are using the new formula. One said she cant' tell the difference in the old formula or the new. LB said the new formula wasn't as good as the old.
I have the discontinued formula. I haven't tried the new formula yet to compare.
2c/3a?
Low porosity, medium texture.

If it smells good put it in your hair, if it tastes good spit it out!
So the new formular is called Moisturizing Pomegranate, and the old was called Peach Pomegranate??

2b~~fine texture~~normal porosity (except for highlights, which are high)~~normal elasticity~~medium density

Shampoo: Still use sulfates, but only on roots
Rinse out: Deva One C, JC Too Shea, Original Sprouts Deep Conditioner
Curl Enhancers: KCCC; JC Rocking Ringlets, JC Spiralicious, & Confident Coils
Styler: BRHG (over any and all curl enhancers) - this is the one product that I never change - absolute HG!!

I

Thanks kj! It was the B2B website that was confusing me on the names.

I just read through LB's Conditioner Chronicles and had to agree with her on the BioSilk Silk Therapy Conditioner.

I love Biosilk's Smoothing Balm, the RHG (although I don't use it often) and the Thickening Creme, but was amazed at how non-moisturizing the conditioner was. I only use it as a co-wash when we go out of town, then use my GF or VO5 conditioners.

I would, Laurabeth, but I can never figure out how to log in. I did log it once to review some stuff a couple months ago, but when I enter my log-in info from here or my CurlMart log-in, it doesn't work. Wish we could have one log-in info for all 3.

I should also double check the conditioner as the bottle I have is straight and not shaped like most of the Biosilk ones. I need to make sure I'm giving the right conditioner the bum rap !

I know our CurlMart user id's are different from the forums, but I thought our user info for the reviews was the same as the forums? At least I was able to log in for the reviews using my same forum log-in id.

It might be, Lush, and I tried while I was logged into here, so maybe that's why it didn't work.

I have a question about the frizz issue in the reviews...laurabeth33, do you usually have a problem with frizz? Would you say the more frizzy results were because the condish was frizz-inducing or simply not sufficiently frizz-fighting for you?

Thanks!
OMG, LOOK!!

...It's a siggie.

I have found that some products cause a lot of frizz and others do nothing about frizz (so it's an average amount for me, which, in FL, is "some"). Still others seemed to help prevent frizz which was awesome.

I created a thread a while back on types of frizz. Most of the time, my hair is coated/suffocated or doesn't get enough moisture, and that causes my frizz..

Okay now this is intriguing. I'm looking for the most curl boosting conditioners so I tried B2B Curl Refreshing Conditioner based on some comments here and there on the board. Now I see it's in the love/hate category. So far I'm in the love camp, with oodles of curls on day one with this conditioner. I'm experimenting with a 3 day rotation to figure out what my hair likes. One thing that seems to help my hair with clumping and curl formation is leaving much of the conditioner in my hair. Very helpful threads!
