Question Dimethicone vs. Dimethiconol

What's the difference between dimethicone and dimethiconol? Is dimethiconol lighter or heavier than dimethicone? Is it a light or heavy 'cone in general? Can anyone give me the "scoop" on dimethiconol?

Hi there!
I suggest that you did a quick search in the forum. I am new here (as mentioned in my previous posts), but I have found some posts that might help you.

Check here :
Dimethicone and Dimethiconol...is there a diff?

Is dimethiconol water soluble?

Is dimethiconol a silicone?

and of course here:
What’s the Scoop on Silicones?

Hope the above might help you

I've read all of those posts and have done research on the topic before I posted about it, and I still haven't found the answer to my questions, which is why I'm posting them.

I don't know a lot about dimethiconol. I know at one time it was in one of my stylers-- but for the life of me, I cannot remember which one. If memory serves me correctly, it didn't seem to be as heavy of a cone as dimethicone, but I could be wrong. I don't remember having build up issues from it.
I hope to read more responses to this thread myself.

Oh I'm sorry, I thought that by "Is it a light or heavy 'cone in general?" you meant if it is water soluble
Unfortunately I cannot answer your question, but according to cosmeticsdatabase.com , dimethicone is low hazard to moderate hazard ingredient, while Dimethiconol is listed as a low hazard one.
I wish I could help you
I think that the more experienced once will do so
