How are the fine, porous curlies handling the heat and humidity?

It is hot and sticky here in NJ and my hair is freaking out! No matter what I try or do, it looks stringy and limp and OMG, the frizz is horrendous. I tried BRHG but my hair is reacting to something in it and ends up looking dry and even more frizzy.
My hair hasn't looked this bad in ages. I'm at a loss.
What's working for you gals with porous and fine hair?

Modified CG, CJ Rehab, JCWDT, KCKT, VO5 Chamomile Tea Therapy, CJDF, HEBE Gel/Mousse, Bioinfusion Rosemary Mint shampoo, occasional protein

Experimenting with BRHG

Here in Oregon, the hottest day we have had so far was 80. I kept a spray water bottle with me with a bit of honey, lavender and ice cubes. I sprayed every once in a while, and It seemed okay. However, I remember Jersey heat, and this is a FAR cry from the heat you have. I hope someone can help you!!

<<-working my way back to this!!
My hair when I was 17 and had no idea how to flatten it.
I live in Oklahoma, and honestly the humidity has been ridiculous. My hair has also been so freakin awful and frizzy, and just horrible. So frankly, I've been experimenting with cones. I tried and tried with my regular go-tp products (KCCC, FOTE, Pink BootsCJ AFG, LALSHG, BRHG, and more) but the results were the same with all of them; awful, frizzy, undefined curls. So today I used my KCKT as a leave-in, then used a little FOTE as a moisturizer and topped it with a bit of LALSHG. Once my hair was about 75% dry, I scrunched in some MCLI, and diffused to 100% dry. Then I SOTC with Frederic Fekkai Glossing Cream, and bam, my curls look nice again.

I hope some others will chime in on this, because I don't want to resort to cones, but d***, I can't take any more awful hair days.

Things aren't going well here in Ohio either...we have had some of the most terrible humid days lately! My hair looks great while drying and for a few hours after I SOTC, but then turns into a frizzy puffball by night. It sucks!

So, like smasters, I've been experimenting with cones. I know from past experimentation that my hair likes the amine-functionalized silicones like amodimethicone and bis-aminopropyl dimethicone. My hair is by no means perfect when using the cones, but it is much less frizzy and puffy than without. I've been liking Aussie Moist and HE Hello Hydration for conditioners, and have also been using Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine Leave-in, which I really like!

The only other thing that has sort of been working for me is KCCC with BRHG on top, but like Magoo, my hair seems to be reacting to the BRHG in this humidity...it gets very producty feeling and dry. Very frustrating!

I've tried sealing with oil and ended up with a frizzy mess. Even though I'm protein sensitive, I've tried adding a bit of protein into my routine and that also left my hair frizzy, rough and dried out.
I get build up pretty fast so I'm hesitant to go the cone route but I'm starting to get desperate here.

The same thing is happening here in missouri. After trying to work with it I started on 'cones, but it wasn't helping. I decided to do a DT of Giovanni 50:50, jojoba oil, FOTE, and honey. I clarified and then left on for 45 min......

Oh My Goodness!! It made all the difference. Before my hair was frizzy and dry in the shower, so I was loading on the leave-in but that was weighing me down. After I washed this out I just used a little leave-in (it was VO5) and a tiny bit of KCCC, I had frizz free hair all day yesterday and pretty decent hair today. Maybe something to try?

I'm using ridiculous amounts of protein, and I actually clarified the other day with a baking soda mix since I swam in chlorine, and that helped a ton. I've also stopped using leave in since it was weighing me down, and use a lot less product. I'm pretty much just using FSG right now, anything else is too heavy or too much hold.

CG since 5/8/10
Mogirl, I've been DTing once a week with either JC WDT or CJ Rehab and I feel like it helps for a day but that's about it. It's been a while since I experimented with my own concoctions so I may have to do some playing around in the kitchen.

Opera, I have a ton of natural volume so I don't really get weighed down. My major problems in the summer are lots of frizz and lack of definition so I feel like I need more hold in the warmer weather. Yesterday I actually used a small amount of CJ Rehab as a leave in and had somewhat better hair. It had better definition and didn't look as dry as it has been looking the past few weeks.

Whenever my hair starts acting up I go PJ nuts and start trying everything under the sun which actually makes my hair worse. I may have to just clarify and start from scratch.

I do my routine every 2 or 3 days, but always at night, which I think helps 'set' everything. I use pretty much protein all around. I do a TJTT no poo & lately followed with Vo5 passion fruit moisture milk (my hair is loving this right now). My styling products are CCCClite (raked in), then HESMU spray gel. Air dry & I SOTC a smidge before bed & the rest in the morning. My spray bottle is water only & I generally use a smidge of CCCClite if needed. The first night I don't pineapple but just lay my hair over my satin pillow. The 2nd & 3rd night I do a very loose pineapple.

I do a PT followed by a DT (sometimes just followed by a moisture RO depending on my hair's needs at the time) on the weekends.

I've been having really nice hair days & been happy with my routine (although would like to try another CJ product soon), since it's been pretty low maintenance.

I mostly had nice hair, but when it started getting iffy, I upped the protein and, bam, curls sproinged, frizz calmed. So, yeah, I discovered I really do need more protein. We've had record heat, and being subtropical, the dew points can get high (we had some days in the 80s, not it's mid-to high 70s, though I don't check every day anymore). Today it got to 76, 78 dew points and 88% humidity (though it did get some rain). I had fabulous awesome hair. And I used my regular summer HG stuff and used SMaster's Method cause I had to leave the house fast and couldn't wait for it to even half air-dry.

Summer has been okay. Once I cut back on deep condishing (it was leaving me limpish), stuck with precondishing and lighter leave-in, more protein, I was fine.

Wed, I precondished with CJ HBDF and used Rehab for rinse out--hair was so silky. The AG products have protein, the gel has some, too, I believe. So that helped.

Now, to figure out fall. I started CG 11/25/09. So I've gone through the drier winter, coolish spring, hot as heck summer, and now to see what my hair does in late summer/early fall. hah.

It's a learning curve...

I have really been foucsing on the Ph level of my proucts in order to help close the hair shaft down to lock in moisture & smooth out my stands. Bwt 4-5.5 ph level is best, so daily I spritz with aloe vera juice or rosewater mixed with water. Also Im using GDLI (5.5) & Olive oil to seal as needed. Also avioding glycerin like the plague.
