New..ish!

Hey everyone! i'm actually not new, i just forgot my username and everything because i haven't been on scince i started CG,(in the middle of june.) I'm glad to be back, becuase now that the main 'bad' part of CG is over the real fun can begin! now i can really experiment with prouducts and all that.

Right now i : Co-wash with suave coconut condish. Leave in giovanni leave in(duh), and use L.A. looks gel (blue) to style. Thats the only prouducts i've been using scince JUNE! This former prouduct-junkie is about to be sent over the edge.

So, today i got Dessert essence from my local 'all natural' store. It has no silicones or sulfates, WOO-HOO! I bought both the shampoo and considh. (coconut) i Actually haven't shampooed scince i started. Just a few bakingsoda/vinager scrubs, and some lemon juice in my conditionar. So, do i just shampoo as i would normally do? I haven't tried them yet, so i have no idea how my hair is gonna react.

Here is a recent picture ( a few hours ago, actually....) PLEASE excuse the stupid look on my face. I swear i don't have the IQ of a potato. ( but i spell like one, sorry!) I'm pretty sure i have 3B hair....

So, my question(s) are 1. Should i just shampoo normally? 2. How often should i shampoo? 3. What other prouducts are cg that i can find at walmart/target/heath food store UNDER 10$?

thanks so much!

Me too...
I've been stalking the forums for so long. I just went and changed my signature because it's soooo different from when I first started learning about CG (lots and lots of fructis products) : ) ...

Oh yea...
I've only been shampooing once a week... firmly scrubbing and stimulating my scalp. I co-wash the rest of the week. I decided to follow some of the advice from the lady at livecurlylivefree.com. She's a curly stylist who's learned a little bit over the years, and I liked her website because she offered a lot of common sense advise on curly hair care and ingredients.

I also spell at potato levels.

You can shampoo just like normal. Some people like to coat then length with conditioner first to protect it. You need to shampoo only as often as you need it, no more. (not super helpful, I know)

Everything in my siggi comes from the drugstore or sally's.

If you want to try more expensive stuff, start with samples when possible. Curl junkie, jessicurl, curlmart, and spiral solutions (and I'm sure others) all have samples. Kathymack from the boards sells a variety of samples. Click on the fotki in her siggi. If you buy expensive stuff you don't like, you can sell or swap on the swap boards. It is a good place to find stuff too.
Have fun.

2a (nc.com) 2bFi (Fia), very fine, thin, low/normal elasticity, porous, CG, doesn't get weighed down
Cowash: Tresemme naturals
Rinse out/leave in: Renpure Organics (red)
Curl enhancer: FSG
Gel: BRHG, Salon care aloe, Ecostyler Krystal (normal dews)
PT: ION effective care, IAgirl's gelatin PT
Low Poo: renpure (red), Ion swimmers
Hahahaha, I may be ahead of my class, but i spell like a 3rd grader!

Thanks for all the lists! I'm just about to jump into my shower, i will let you know how the shampoo went.

One thing i haven't seen before is the eco-styler gel. Could i get that at walmart or some place like that?
Someone said it was protien heavy, and i have no idea if my hair likes protien! Still so much to learn....
Ecostyler . I love it so much. It has glycerin (bad for me in low dews) and wheat protein (some people's hair specifically hates this protein). You can find it at CVS and Sally beauty. Cheap. Sally beauty has it on sale every 2nd or 3rd month for 3$ a tub (32oz I think). 4-5$ regular price. For me it is a magic clump maker and a curl enhancer. It should have enough hold for you to use as a gel.
ETA: It is in the ethnic hair care section.

My hair did NOT like the poo' ...don't know why. My hair was not nearly as curly. Oh well. I dont know if it's just the poo', or the condish to. I will try tomorrow just the condish. I also got eco styler today, when i wansn't even planning on it!!! I can't wait to try that to.

Anything else you ? Haha.

thanks for the help!
A personal favorite product of mine is Trader Joes Nourish Spa conditioner. Plenty of slip, light, and moisturizing, and very cheap too. I hear the shampoo is nice as well.

Shampoo as much as you need it...meaning, if your hair feels dry shampoo less. And if your hair feels greasy, you need more. I wouldn't go for more than twice a week though.

It might depend on your hair's thickness too. Thicker hair needs to be shampooed (and washed, in general) less.

I personally low-poo about once in two weeks, maybe once a week.
Hair type: 2C-3A, very dry, extremely low porosity, med elasticity, insanely thick kinky-wavy.
HGs: Trader Joe's Nourish spa conditioner, Epsom salt rinse, Joico K-pak conditioner
I don't think i'll be shampooing much. My hair likes just co-wash

I'm gonna try co-washing with my regular condish (suave coconut) and then using my new coconut to actually mousturize my hair with. After that, i'll see how my hair likes eco styler!

Thanks for all the help! I'll keep you guys posted.

Any other 'Holy grails' I can try?!
