How do you style your hair without a part?

Hi all. I've always styled my hair parted to the left or right (usually the right) but would like to try without a part. The problem is that it keeps flipping itself to one side or the other. Anyone have tips on how to get it to stay back?

My hair is around bra-strap length and fine. I don't know about its porosity or curl category but I think my curls are Botticelli (they're more of a wavy curl right now since so long and shapeless). My Devachan haircut has long since grown out so the hair is flat on top. I have horrible layers that mess up my hair, cut by an ignorant stylist (shouldn't have let that person cut my hair but I'm pregnant and had just gotten off bed rest so I wanted a hair cut).

Anyway, I'd like to get the front of my hair to look like hers:

or hers: http://www.rebeccagayheartfan.com/ga...lbum=29&pos=43

Thanks for any tips!

If I don't want a part, I use a Denman to brush the hair back and rake in mousse from front to back. One can use clips to keep hair flowing BACk while drying. Hairspray or more mousse when dry to keep hair UP and UNparted.

Thanks for your reply, MirCurls. Which Denman brush do you use? (I've seen the Denman brush mentioned on this site before but never knew which one everyone was talking about.) Do you have any mousse and hairspray recommendations, CG preferred if possible? Thanks!

I have the nine row Denman. I always forget the number.

BTW, just in case you hadn't noticed, there IS a part in both those photos...but it's camouflaged by the lift and hold. The first has a middle part. The second has a side part. But because the hair is lifted and softened some, especially Gayheart's, it looks like it's less parted. The part is...softened.

I like Joico JoiWhip. Good hold and great anti-frizz. BUT...I don't use it often. It's a bit drying and it makes my hair less touchable. But...when I use it now, I only use on the crown/bangs/roots area to get lift (but I rarely use it these days, just once in a while).

I like AG Foam. It's less stiffening than JoiWhip and I believe it's CG. You can check the ingredients in CurlMart. I posted pics in my Fotki--June, maybe, I forget.

Here is one where I used JoiWhip--with a side part--so you can see it does help LIFT the hair and volumize my thin/fine hair. http://public.fotki.com/MirCurls/jun...-0786-jpg.html

But if you like the looks in those photos, you don't want NO part...you want a softened, less obvious one, and just adding some volume can take care of that.

Okay, here's one with AG FOAM....http://public.fotki.com/MirCurls/hai...jpg.html#media

And here is a shot of the top showing
how lifting the hair disguises my thinning crown's showthrough (usually, yu see tons of scalp!) and how it obliterates my part, but I still have root curl. http://public.fotki.com/MirCurls/hai...jpg.html#media

If I want no part (and usually it's for a french braid or sommat) I use a headband with little things kinda like fork tines to keep my hair back. So the best thing would probably be clips. Here's a youtube video of a clipping method I think would work. (This was actually made by someone here, but I don't remember her sn...)

Also in those pics it looks like they started out with a middle part and then got a few curls to lay backwards. Twirling the curls in that direction might help.
