Cowash vs. Conditioner?

Ok so just to clear up my confusion...am I supposed to use a different conditioner for washing and then another conditioner for conditioning? I have just been cowashing my hair with Curl Junkie curl assurance...but I am thinking that I should be "washing" with something else and then "conditioning" with that.

Thanks in advance for helping clear my confusion!
I've done it both ways. I've co-washed with Suave and then conditioned with something else. Currently, I'm co-washing with Darcy's pumpkin conditioner and leaving it in as my rinse out conditioner. I just co-wash and leave it in for a few minutes. I rinse it out and then I put in another one as a leave in. I like it both ways.

Pre Co-wash: Coconut oil (plain & rosemary)
Co-wash: Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle or Trader Joe's Nourish Spa
Rinse out: GVP Conditioning Balm
Leave-in/Styling: Moisture Maniac with Kenra Moisturizing Conditioner on top
I believe it's a matter of preference. Some curlies like to use different products for their wash, conditioner/ leave-in, while others (like myself) like to use 1 for both jobs. You just have to find out what works best for your hair & your pockets. I don't mind spending the extra $ on a good conditioner that does it all, b/c my hair benefits from it & it beats what I used to spend going to the salon once or twice a month, and what I used to spend on products for home...just listen to your hair & pay attention to your wallet!
Fine/Medium strands, Medium density, Normal porosity.

Cowash: Giovanni Tea Tree Triple Treat
Leave-In: Kinky Curly Knot Today

I use 1 conditioner for both jobs as well. It works well for me. I do use a separate leave-in that I apply when I get out of the shower; I need it for detangling.

I only use one conditioner. I co-wash, rinse, add gel, done. I don't add conditioner a 2nd time and I don't use a leave in. It's what my hair likes. And I always do what my hair likes. : )

When I co-wash, I usually use a thinner formula for my scalp and then something thicker for my hair. I don't really use anything as a leave-in.

I use two different ones, but it's a cost thing for me. I like to use a lot of conditioner to wash and detangle with, and I wouldn't be able to afford to do that with any of my really moisturizing conditioners that I like. So I just use a cheapie one and then use a thicker nicer more expensive one for my rinse out and don't use as much.

Loving AOHR, Biolage Conditioning Balm, KCCC.
I too use a cheapie for the co-wash and use the better one for the conditioning. I spritz and condition on the alternate days and use the cheapie for that.

It is a matter of preference. I typically use 2 different conditioners for washing & conditioning but I have used just one in a hurry.

ive tried both ways, cowash with a cheapie conditioner then condition with a regular one. Now i just use one, tresemme naturals.. its so rich and moisturizing but still rinses clean, lathers well too.
I do a quick "lather" then reapply and let it sit a cpl mins and rinse.. rarely ill use a seperate conditioner like Darcys Pumpkin instead and let it sit.
But im over thin cheapy conditioners as co-washes.. i had to use too much of them to get the job done!
